Secrets of the Sorcerer Review
Slots being designed in a retro style is nothing new for the iGaming industry. However, Secrets of the Sorcerer takes it a step further than that.
The title uses intentionally pixelated graphics to give off a retro game feeling. It reminds us of old NES games, which was likely what iSoftBet was going for. It looks good, but how does it play? Is it good enough to recommend to our readers?
- Medium variance with a 6,714x jackpot

Are you ready to embark on a grand adventure to slay a dragon? It is no easy feat, which is why our sorcerer prepares for it extensively.
He has prepared all kinds of potent potions whose effects help him in this task. These effects include cash prizes, a bonus wheel, and a free spins round.
With their aid, taking the dragon’s 6,714x jackpot treasure becomes feasible. This release has a medium variance.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The choice of theme will not suit everyone. Pixel art tends to be hit or miss for many players. However, the desire to join a magical adventure, slay a dragon and find plenty of loot is almost universal.
The symbol designs look cool, and we quite like the animation attached to them. The background image also changes during normal gameplay and free spins.
You play this online slot on a five-reel, three-row board with twenty-five paylines. The number of paylines is fixed, meaning we cannot toggle them off to lower our wager.
Wins are formed by finding three or more matching icons in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. Winning combinations must follow an active payline, or the relevant cash prize will not be paid.
In-game features
Every round has a chance to trigger the Secrets Uncovered feature. When activated, the bonus can do one of two things.
It can award a large cash prize, which is determined randomly. If that does not happen, the bonus will activate the free spins round.
In case you land two Scatters, the bonus meter in the upper left corner charges. Each time it charges, the green segment on the wheel increases slightly.
Players can click on the bonus wheel and spin it by paying 1x their wager. If the arrow lands on the green segment, players win the free spins round. If it lands on red, the meter resets back to no progress.
Secrets of the Sorcerer Free Spins
As we already mentioned, there are other ways to activate free spins. You can also trigger the bonus by finding three Scatters on reels two, three, and four simultaneously.
Players pick between three potions. Your chosen potion grants a random number of free spins and what symbols are transformed into golden Wilds.
Players will find potion icons while playing the bonus round. Collect three to win two more free spins.
There is also a chance for a potion to explode. If that happens, it will reveal Wilds with multipliers, which increase payouts by 2x, 3x, or 5x.
RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this slot is 95.96%. This is very slightly below the current industry average of 96%.
You can bet between $0.25 and $25 with every round.
The top prize you can win playing this game is 6,714x your total stake. Despite the impressive jackpot, this iSoftBet release only has a medium variance.

Verdict
Secrets of the Sorcerer is a delightful slot. It has an impressive variety of special features and a fantastic jackpot.
Nobody will have any issues with these parts of the game. One area we can imagine being an issue is the pixel art visuals. If you like them, then this release will be a fantastic experience.
If you do not like them, it might be worth considering another slot.
