Leprechaun’s Coins Review
Irish slots have overwhelmed the iGaming industry over the last few years, bringing numerous popular titles. Developers have continued to create casino games on this topic, utilizing the popularity of the most prominent titles.
They do not intend to stop, making it increasingly difficult for future releases to be original. Still, providers will continue to make Irish-themed games as long as there is demand for them.
Platipus Gaming has tried to be competitive with Leprechaun’s Coins and delivered a good game that will undoubtedly reach larger audiences. That said, we do not expect it to become a classic, for it does not have elements to be elevated too much above the average.
- High volatility game with a maximum payout of 50,000x the bet
- 243 paylines
- Stacked Wilds, Lucky Respins, Free Spins and Bonus Buy
The graphics are crisp and sharp, but nothing we have not seen before from other providers who develop similar online slots. Everything looks and sounds Irish and has a playful, cartoonish vibe. The design is pleasant to look at, but it is far from spectacular when you know what to expect.
Do not get us wrong, Platipus did everything by the book, but it is nothing new for this kind of slot. A traditional medieval soundtrack completes the audio-visual presentation in an excellent but expected way. A few engaging features keep the gameplay fast-paced and the punters thoroughly entertained.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The game looks great, with well-designed symbols and excellent visuals that make the game pleasant to look at. The playful traditional soundtrack complements the presentation, putting punters in the middle of the action.
You will see yourself walking Ireland’s green pastures, searching for gold pots. However, if you have ever tried to play any famous Irish-themed game, it looked and felt similar to this one.
Irish slot fans and enthusiasts will have a great time with Leprechaun’s Coins, but it will hardly become an all-timer beside numerous more popular similarly themed games.
The action occurs on a classic 5×3 grid with 243 paylines and a few exciting features to spice things up. Land three to five matching icons on a payline to grab a win. Five royals are low-pay symbols (10-A), awarding you up to 16x the coin stake for a string of five.
Moreover, a Four-Leaf Clover is worth 25x the coin bet for five, with a Beer Mug giving 30x. A Pipe grants 40x the bet for five, while five Harps pay 60x the coin stake.
The titular Leprechaun is a Wild symbol that appears stacked and replaces regular symbols in a winning combination.
A Scatter symbol activates the Bonus round and is the most lucrative icon in the game, granting 50x the total bet for five identical symbols. Coins are Bonus symbols that are instrumental for the Respin feature.
In-game features
Several attractive features contribute to engaging gameplay, most of them already familiar to Platipus fans. They include Stacked Wilds, Respins, Free Spins and Bonus Buy. A vast number of winning opportunities are presented to the players.
Stacked Wilds
Aside from substituting regular symbols in winning combinations, Wilds appear stacked on every reel but the first. It creates possibilities for numerous wins that come relatively frequently.
Lucky Respins
A Gold Coin represents the Bonus icon and hitting six of them triggers the feature. It has the same pattern as in other games, with three respins on a grid with only Coins and blanks.
Every additional Coin resets the respin tally to three, and if the feature is triggered during the Bonus round, each win will be doubled.
You can win regular cash prizes and four Jackpots, including Mini, Minor, Major and Grand. The latter is worth 50,000x coin bets and can be won if all positions on the grid are filled.
Free Spins
The Pot of Gold is a Scatter icon you can use to activate the Free Spins round. Land three or more to grab six initial spins and six more if you hit three more in the round. Any win that contains Wild symbols will be doubled during this round.
Bonus Buy
You can purchase six free spins for 40x the stake and try to grab hefty wins. The same conditions as in a regular game apply.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
Leprechaun’s Coins has an RTP of 95%, going below the industry standard. Given the rest of the parameters, we do not expect the hit frequency to be too high, but decent wins are still possible. Employing Wilds, Free Spins, and Respins will help you grab hefty wins.
Numerous wagering options are possible, starting from $0.25 and with the highest bet of $50. It will attract high rollers and penny-pinchers alike due to the broad betting range. Adjust your preferences according to your budget and enjoy the game.
Leprechaun’s Coins is a highly volatile game that indicates more infrequent but heftier and more substantial wins. Big wins are possible if multiple features help you simultaneously, but the game is far from boring. The fast-paced gameplay and attractive perks keep it tremendously entertaining.
Verdict
Leprechaun’s Coins looks excellent, and it brings exciting moments and sequences, but it is barely a bit more than a generic Irish game. Everything is expectedly predictable, from symbols to features, from appearance to payouts.
While it is a good game to spend a weekend afternoon, it is hardly a title to come back to over and over again. Irish slot lovers and enthusiasts will indubitably be pleased, but even they will have to admit there are better releases than this one.
Platipus has already produced similar games with different topics, and this one cannot be accused of being too innovative. We rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
