Secret of Dead Review
Amongst lots of Egyptian-themed slots, Play ‘n Go provides another sequel to their ‘book of’ slots, known as Secret of Dead. This pharaoh-themed slot takes you on another Egyptian journey, in which you can win up to 10,000x the stake!
The Secret of Dead Offers:
- Expanding Symbols
- Gamble Feature
- Free Spins
The Secret of Dead is a 6×3 grid online slot that has only ten pay lines, but still, that’s more than enough for this slot to provide excitement. Play ‘n Go developed this slot as a sequel to their ‘book of’ franchise, which you’ll read about what offers below.
We know that the Egyptian-themed slots are widespread, so let’s see if this slot changes the game a bit.
In Secret of Dead, you’ll benefit from Free Spins, expanding symbols, Gamble feature, and the same symbols for Wilds and Scatters. Read our in-depth review below if you’re wondering what we’re talking about.
Themes, Graphics, and Sounds
When you load the casino game, you’ll see that the reels are located in something that is most likely to be a temple. There are blue pillars behind the reels and piles of gold coins. The developer didn’t do anything special with the setting, so let’s see what you will find on the paytable.
On the paytable, the players will come across a bunch of ancient-themed symbols, which are divided into low-paying and high-paying ones.
You will see 10-A Royal tiles for the low-paying symbols, while the high-paying ones consist of cats, scarab beetles, cobras, and probably Shai, the God of Fate.
The payouts the symbols provide are pretty decent. You can receive up to 25x the bet for six of the low-payings and up to an incredible 500x the bet for six of the premiums.
What’s maybe the most exciting part is that there is one symbol for both Wilds and Scatters. For this symbol, you will see Ankh.
In-Game Features
Those who played Book of Dead will be really familiar with Secret of Dead’s gameplay. As we already said, the Ankh is both a Wild and a Scatter symbol, which has a significant role in triggering features and providing decent payouts.
Ankh is a Wild during the base game, and it substitues all regular paying symbols. Before the Free Spins, one symbol was chosen to be expanding symbol.
The Secret of Dead Free Spins
In this slot, the main focus is on the Free Spins game, which is the Bonus round, so let’s see what it offers. By landing 3, 4, 5, or 6 Ankh Scatters, the players receive 8, 10, 12, or 15 Free Spins and payouts of 1, 10, 50, or 250x the stake.
The above-mentioned expanding symbol can land during this feature, and it expands to cover all positions on the respective reel.
Furthermore, if you land another 3 Scatters during the Free Spins, either you can win an additional 5 Free Spins, or another symbol can become an expanding one.
The Secret of Dead also comes with a Gamble feature that allows you to double or quadruple your total win by guessing the color or the correct card suit. This feature can be played up to 5x.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
When we speak about a slot developed by Play ‘n GO, we can indeed expect a highly volatile slot with an RTP higher than the average one. In the Secret of Dead, the RTP value is 96.2%.
The players can put their bettings as low as $0.01 or as high as $100 per spin and shoot their shot for the maximum win of 10,000x the total stake.

Verdict
Although Play ‘n GO is a famous developer and has some incredible slots, the Secret of Dead might not be one of its best slots.
Even though it comes with a fantastic potential payout and exciting symbols and features, it still doesn’t bring something new to the slot’s market.
Moreover, the regular gamblers are pretty used to its ‘book of’ slots, so Secret of Dead doesn’t create some tremendous excitement amongst them. But, it’s not the worst slot, so you may still put your bettings on it. We give this game 4 out of 5 stars.
