Barbarian Fury Review
In the harsh cold north, only the strongest have what it takes to survive. With Nolimit City, we will challenge the local barbarians to claim their loot! Do you have the nerves of steel needed to win this jackpot?
- Several bonuses reliant on the nudge mechanic
- High variance gameplay
- You can replay the biggest wins on Nolimit games
Historical fantasy is a genre that has not been explored all that much with online slots. Games tend to go all-out with magic, or just stick to keeping things purely historical.
Barbarian Fury offers a bit of both, and combines it with great visuals and fun gameplay. It offers roaring Wilds, re-spin and free spin special features.
All three of them use the nudge mechanic to some degree to make those bonuses work.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The inspiration this slot has taken from Vikings is impossible to deny. The background image depicts a cold, forested region.
The snow keeps falling day or night, which adds to the literal cool atmosphere in this release. Despite this, all three of our barbarians are rocking exposed skin to some degree.
We can also see their companions perched atop their weapons, adding to their mysticism.
You play Barbarian Fury on a five-reel, three-row board. The playing field has twenty-five paylines, which we cannot turn on or off when we want to.
In order to win, you need three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions. Winning combinations must follow an active payline and start with the leftmost reel to grant a prize.
In-game features
Wilds in this slot can cover the entire reel they are currently on. It can appear on reels two, three and four.
The Wild will always nudge up or down in order to fully occupy the reel. Every nudge increases the Wild multiplier by one!
It is possible to have several Wild multipliers active in a single winning combination. When that happens, the Wild multipliers are added together to form the total win multiplier.
Three or more of the same barbarian icon have a chance of triggering the Barbarian re-spin. During the re-spin, barbarian symbols will nudge to be fully visible on the playing field.
They will then be locked in place. Wilds will also be locked for the re-spin. This special feature can activate during free spins and normal gameplay.
Land at least three Scatters to win the free spins round. During free spins, Wild multipliers do not reset between spins.
The number of spins is not determined by the number of Scatters. Instead, number of nudges needed for the Scatters to nudge out of the bottom of the reel area does that.
Each nudge grants one free spin. The extra benefit of free spins is that Barbarian re-spins are guaranteed to activate. Additional Scatters will grant extra free spins.

We really liked how much Nolimit City committed to the nudges with special features. It makes it feel more consistent as you play.
It is a minor thing overall, but it enhances the overall experience. The rest of this release is fantastic.
The visuals are great, as is the choice of theme. Bonuses feel great to play, and they can be very rewarding.
For fans of high variance titles, Barbarian Fury is an excellent experience. A solid 4 out of 5 stars!
