Esqueleto Explosivo 2 Review
Everyone had that moment in their life when they ran into someone and thought “What a bonehead!” Well, we guarantee the boneheads in this Thunderkick online slot will be much more pleasant.
Each one is decorated richly for the Day of the Dead celebrations. Will this game be as exciting as the holiday?
- 5000x jackpot
- Cascading reels with progressive multiplier
- 99 ways to win
Bobbleheads have been around for as long as we can remember. Their design is simple, but the effect is simply mesmerising.
The software provider has taken this concept, and combined it with a well-known Mexican holiday. The results speak for themselves!
Available special features include cascading reels, exploding Wilds, a progressive multiplier, and free spins.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The Day of the Dead celebrations are becoming a very popular theme pick. They are instantly recognizable, which developers like.
Thunderkick has done a great job with the visuals here. All the boneheads have the same skull shape.
Thanks to fantastic animations and little details, each skull looks distinct from one another. On top of all that, we also get a drop-dead gorgeous background.
You play this release on a five-reel, three-row board with ninety-nine paylines. You cannot turn any of the paylines on or off.
Wins are granted by matching three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel.
All winning combinations have to follow one of the active paylines, or their cash prize will not be paid.
In-game features
One of the most important additions to Esqueleto Explosivo 2 is the cascading reels mechanic. Icons that were part of the winning combination are added together and are removed from the reels.
This allows existing symbols to take their place, while brand new icons appear from the top. Players can use this to land several consecutive wins for the price of a single spin.
Mucho multipliers also rely on cascading reels. The multiplier starts at 1x, and increases with each consecutive win.
It goes up to 2x, then 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x. 32x is the maximum multiplier you can unlock during normal gameplay. During free spins, it is possible to get up to a 64x multiplier!
Another way to boost your multiplier is to find a Wild or two. Wilds can only appear on reels two, three and four.
When it lands, it will first substitute for any winning combinations that are available. Wilds will then explode, removing up to eight symbols around itself. The only icons that can survive the blast are high value symbols and the Scatter.
Land three, four or five scatters to win ten, twelve or fourteen free spins. It is possible to win more free spins while playing the special feature.
To do so, you just need to land two or more Scatters in any position on the playing field. You will be actively collecting Wilds while the bonus is active.
Every third Wild we pick up grants an extra free spin. It also removes the lowest multiplier from the meter. Thanks to this mechanic, we can get the aforementioned 64x multiplier.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this slot is 96.13%. This is above the current industry average, though not by a whole lot.
You can bet between $0.10 and $100 on each spin. Players set their bets by selecting the coin button.
This leads to a separate screen, where we can choose from a range of pre-selected wagers. We like this spread of bets, as it will appeal to both casual and high roller audiences.
Big prizes await the most dedicated casino members! The game offers a 5000x jackpot for players brave enough to tackle its high volatility.
The numerous special features will keep you entertained while you grind. Then, when the time is right? All the multipliers, free spins and explosive Wilds will come together to make the top prize possible.
Verdict
Thunderkick may be a small software provider, but their quality has always been top notch. This release shows they still have that magic touch.
Mouth-watering graphics and a great theme choice will draw players in. Then, the fun bonuses and impressive jackpot will keep them spinning for hours.
If you enjoy playing high volatility slots, Esqueleto Explosivo 2 should be on your radar.
We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
