Legacy Of Dead Review
Slot provider Play ’n Go boasts a big range of Legacy/Book of titles. Some will argue these games are a bit repetitive and that if you played one, you played them all.
However, if you’re a fan of the genre, this October 2019 release promises to take you on an exciting adventure set in Ancient Egypt.
With so many hidden riches just waiting to be uncovered, should you take up on the developer’s offer? Will it be worthwhile? Stay with us and find out.
- High variance title with the maximum prize capped at 5,000 times the bet
- Ten adjustable paylines
- The list of features includes expanding symbols, a Free Spins round and the game’s Wild/Scatter that also delivers staggering payout of its own
As we already pointed out, players can look forward to lots of excitement from this online slot. You won’t lack chances to hit handsome prizes.
The same symbol acts as both Wild and Scatter, and in addition to its roles, awards cash prizes of up to 500 times the bet. The real magic happens in Free Spins, which includes expanding symbols.
The top payout is worth 5,000 times your stake. Not too bad, but we expected more from a highly volatile release such as this.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Regarding the quality of the game’s graphics, Legacy of Dead stands out among other Legacy/Book of titles.
The Egyptian theme is well executed to create an immersive atmosphere, while the design of the symbols is of the utmost quality. We’re sure the surroundings will captivate you from the moment this thrilling adventure begins.
The action takes place on a standard five-reel, three-row grid with ten adjustable paylines. Lowering the number of active lines allows players to place smaller wagers.
Landing at least low-value symbols or two higher-paying ones award a payout. These symbols need to be positioned on an active line to award a corresponding prize.
Tutankhamen is the most valuable regular, paying 500 times your stake for five of a kind. Wilds also award the exact payout.
In-game features
The base game doesn’t provide any chances to win massive prizes, although there’s one thing to keep an eye on. That’s the burial chamber icon, which at the same time acts as a Wild and a Scatter.
Apart from replacing all other symbols to help players form more wins, it will deliver cash prizes when at least two of a kind appear on the reels. The top payout it brings is a handsome 500 times the triggering stake.
Legacy of Dead Free Spins
Three or more Scatters unlock the Free Spins round, and award ten spins in the process. Players will also receive a payout, going up to 200 times the bet for landing five Scatters.
Before the round begins, one of the symbols from the paytable will become special. Whenever the chosen symbol appears, it will expand to cover an entire reel.
Landing three or more special symbols can see them expand to cover the whole grid! Get three additional Scatters, and you’ll receive another ten spins.
A row of symbols is located above the main playing area, where a special symbol is highlighted. Whenever the bonus round is retriggered, another special symbol will become highlighted as well.
This process can be repeated until all nine icons become special and expandable at the same time.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
Legacy of Dead has a default RTP of 96.58%. However, there are other configurations with a lower payout percentage, so be sure to check this value before you play the game.
Wagering starts at $0.10, while the maximum stake is capped at $100 per spin.
The game’s top prize is worth 5,000 times the triggering stake. Though that’s not bad, the game could have offered a bigger reward to tackling its high variance.

Verdict
If you’ve ever played a Legacy/Book of title, then you know what to expect. The game itself may not be original, but it’s pretty good, and we’re sure players will enjoy it.
It’s all about the Free Spins round, and we particularly loved expanding symbols, which further add to the excitement. It gets even better if you manage to turn all nine symbols into expanding icons.
The win potential is decent, although Play’n GO could have been a bit more generous. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
