Mystic Orbs Review
Asian-themed online slots are enormously popular in the iGaming industry, and ELK Studios already has a few under its belt. Mystic Orbs is a colorful addition to its exotic game portfolio, a multi-layered slot that takes you to China.
Enter the treasure chamber to try out numerous versatile features and put your hands on the loot. You are in for multiple surprises with this slot based on the famous cluster pays. Mystic Orbs are not the most lucrative or dynamic game, but they still pack a punch.
- Medium-to-high volatility slot with a 10,000x maximum win
- Cluster Pays
- Avalanches, Multipliers and Charged Orbs
The casino game is pleasant to look at, but not the most visually appealing ELK Studios has ever produced. The game grid is placed onto a simple rocky background, which is not particularly attractive during the bonus round.
Cluster Pays and various attractive features will keep you thoroughly entertained throughout the game. The volatility is medium-to-high, and the maximum win of 10,000x the stake.
While it is not the best and the most thrilling game developed by the studio, slot enthusiasts should give it a go. Everyone will find something to like.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
As mentioned, Mystic Orbs is far from the most striking game regarding graphics. ELK doesn’t attempt to be particularly original with the rocky background, but it is still a great game to play.
Despite all the simplicity, it is a charmer that can award you solid payouts. Add a good soundtrack, which is a mixture of the classic Asian tones and modern twists, and you have a great combination.
It is an unassuming slot that can be as attractive to high rollers as recreational players. If nothing else, that fact alone makes Mystic Orbs worth playing.
The game transpires on a regular 5×5 board with twenty-five symbols falling down on a single spin. You can create clusters with three low-end Asian icons, four mid-tier animal icons and a Golden Wiseman as the most lucrative one.
You need to string at least five matching icons horizontally or vertically to form a winning cluster, with them maxing out at 18+. They are worth from 20x your bet to 400x for the Wiseman.
There are a plethora of winning options, with strings containing only the Wilds paying out like the highest-valued symbol. Wild symbols can appear on all reels, substituting all the icons, except for Orbs.
In-game features
Orbs are Wilds that can appear in the regular or charged form, and they explode, removing the adjacent symbols if not in a winning combo. A 5-position feature row is above the reels displaying random feature icons.
Should you land charged Orbs, they trigger all the features shown on the row. There are six of them, including Bonus, Extra life, Orb payout, Multiplier, Upgrade and Orb siege.
The first one grants entry into the Bonus round, the second extra drop when no winning clusters are present.
Multiplier adds value to the total win Multiplier amount, while Upgrade turns a symbol into a higher value type. Siege chooses a random adjacent icon to surround the Orb.
Mystic Orbs Free Spins
You trigger the Bonus game by landing the symbol on the feature reel or five Orbs on a single spin in the base game.
You receive five Free Spins where you continue to collect the Orbs, with every five collected in the round granting you more spins.
The Multiplier is persistent during the Bonus round, not resetting between the drops. You can buy the feature using the X-iter mode, giving you five options.
- Feature – gives out a single Free Spin with an Orb and at least one triggered feature (worth 5x the bet).
- Persistent Multiplier – three spins without resetting (25x the stake).
- Charged Orbs – a single spin with all Orbs charged (50x the wager).
- Bonus – guaranteed entry to the Free Spins round (100x the bet)
- Super Bonus – bought entrance to the Free Spins round with all Orbs charged (500x the stake).

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The game provides the usual RTP for ELK games, 95%, which goes below the industry standard. The hit frequency is 28%, with not so handsome payouts.
There are multiple betting options, varying from $0.2 to $100. You can adjust the parameters in the game menu as it suits you and play the game according to your budget.
The volatility is medium-to-high (7/10) with decent winning possibilities. Although Mystic Orbs is a thrilling game, you will not experience many adrenaline-pumping moments.
It is created to appeal to both risk-takers and modest customers, but its exciting features and a maximum win of 10,000x provide great entertainment.

Verdict
Mystic Orbs tries to balance things and provide enough chills and thrills without scaring away moderate players. It manages to do that successfully, providing a solid experience.
While not the top of the list in any category, Mystic Orbs is a decent effort from ELK that fires on all cylinders and delivers in every respect.
Not a jaw-dropping title by any means, but a good, solid game with clever gameplay. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
