Night Trax Review
ELK Studios having a long-term crush on all things neon is nothing new for players. Anyone who has seen their recent slots will know how much they love it.
Now, the team takes it to the next level with the launch of Night Trax. Players have to follow these neon-lit arrows if they hope to score any wins.
If you want to win big, you also need luck and speed to be on your side. Do you have what it takes to take home the jackpot?
- Medium volatility with a 10,000x maximum win
- 72 paylines based on diagonal arrows on the board
- Available special features include re-spins, splits, a bonus game and X-iter
When we first booted up this online slot, it reminded us of going for a drive late at night. There are no crowds on the street and next to no other cars around.
Night Trax perfectly captures the feeling of cruising on an open road. The experience is enhanced further with the addition of cool special features.
Casino members can look forward to re-spins, free spins, X-iter, and multiplier splits. The jackpot worth 10,000x your total stake.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We have to admit that ELK Studios made an interesting theme choice. However, that alone would not be enough to attract player attention.
The fantastic graphics made by their art team is the real reason we stopped to stare. The background image is simple but clear, and gets you in the proper mood to relax and drive around town.
That said, the most interesting part of Night Trax are definitely the arrow symbol designs.
You play this slot on a six-reel, four-row board with 72 paylines. Paylines can land anywhere on the playing field, from left to right.
However, this does not mean that a payline has to start with the leftmost reel. Each payline starts with two diagonal arrows, followed by single, double or triple horizontal arrows.
All arrows have to match in colour. Otherwise, the relevant cash prize will not be paid.
In-game features
After a win is formed, the Trax Re-spins feature plays. Winning arrows are locked in place while all other icons spin again.
A new set of symbols appear, allowing you to win multiple times in one round. Re-spins continue playing until no new icons are added to the paylines, or no new paylines are created.
If a diagonal arrow splits into multiple directions, this creates a split multiplier. The multiplier can be set to 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x.
It will only apply to paylines where the split occurs. Wins on other paylines will not be increased.
Casino members can also buy special features using the X-iter bonus. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, the special feature can award different things. You can find all the options listed below.
- Buying the 5x option guarantees your next spin will be a winning spin
- Buying the 25x option guarantees at least one Wild will appear during the next three spins
- Buying the 100x option guarantees you activate free spins in the next round
- Buying the 250x option guarantees only diagonal arrows will appear in the next three rounds
- Buying the 500x option guarantees you activate free spins with boosted multipliers on the following spin
Night Trax Free Spins
Land three bonus symbols during normal gameplay to win the free spins round. The bonus icons transform into random multiplier values when the special feature begins. Players start the round with three free spins, sticky multipliers, arrows and blank spots.
Each time a multiplier lands on the playing field, it resets the number of free spins back to three. Arrows do not reset the number of free spins.
However, arrows can be used to connect multipliers. This does two things. First, the arrow becomes a copy of the first multiplier. Then, the second multiplier becomes a sum of the first and second multiplier.
That sounds confusing, so it is better to explain with an example. Let’s say you have a 10x multiplier on reel one and a 5x multiplier on reel three.
Then, an arrow lands between these two multipliers. First, the arrow will transform into a 10x multiplier. Second, the 10x multiplier from reel one and 5x multiplier from reel three are added together. That means reel three’s multiplier is now 15x.
If the grid fills up, all values are summarised, and the free spins counter is reset. The summed multipliers are added to the overall total that needs to be awarded when the special feature ends.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this game is set to 95%. This is below the current industry average, which is worth 96%. One percentage point less is not a small amount, but it should not discourage you from playing this game.
You can bet between $0.20 and $100 on each spin.
ELK Studios allows players to win up to 10,000x in a single round. Naturally, this is a very difficult feat to achieve.
Still, this release is not considered a high volatility slot. Night Trax is primarily a medium variance game. It just so happens to have a mouth-watering jackpot!
