Old Fellow Review
Stakelogic joined forces with Hurricane Games to deliver a slot peculiarly titled Old Fellow. The two sides opted to use a proven and popular mining theme but didn’t get too creative or innovative when it comes to features.
The result is a nice-looking game capable of entertaining all types of players, although forgettable in the end. Let’s see what’s in store for us.
- High volatility with payouts of up to 50,000x bet
- Twenty fixed paylines
- Free Spins and the optional Gamble features are there to help players make the most out of their experience
As we already mentioned, developers weren’t too innovative when designing the online slot’s features. Old Fellow is all about the Free Spins round, where sticky Wilds and multipliers further add to the excitement.
The Gamble feature can certainly help boost payouts, while the bonus buy option, where available, allows players to purchase the bonus whenever they feel like it.
We like the game’s massive win potential, as the top payout is worth 50,000 times the bet. However, getting there will be anything but easy due to the highly volatile nature of this release.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The main game is played above the ground, while Free Spins take players deep into the mining shaft.
Old Fellow boasts stunning visuals, with the reels set against a backdrop of a sun-lit canyon, with a cart full of gems on one and a big lizard on the other side of the main playing area. A banjo playing in the background is a perfect addition to the game’s theme.
The action takes place on a five-by-four grid with twenty fixed paylines. To start getting paid, you’ll need to land three or more matching symbols on an active line.
However, only two Wilds or Scatters are enough to deliver a corresponding cash prize. Old Fellow pays left to right, meaning your winning combinations will have to start from the leftmost reel.
Playing card symbols are at the bottom of the paytable, followed by blue, turquoise, yellow, purple, and red gems. We should point out that every reel has an individually designed Wild.
In-game features
In the main game or after the Free Spins round ends, players can use the Gamble feature to boost their winnings.
The goal of this round is to guess the colour of a card to double your money or guess the suit to quadruple your winnings. If you fail to do so, you lose. If this feature is not your cup of tea, you can switch it off completely.
Old Fellow Free Spins
Landing two, three, four or five Scatters not only triggers the Free Spins round but also awards payouts of two, five, twenty-five or 500 times the bet.
Players receive twelve spins but won’t be able to retrigger the round since Scatters won’t appear during the bonus.
Every time a Wild appears on the reels, it will remain sticky for the rest of the bonus. Wilds also come with win multipliers of up to 4x. Landing Wilds on every reel awards five additional spins, although this can occur only once.
In some jurisdictions, the bonus buy feature will allow slot lovers to trigger the bonus round by paying 100 times the bet.
Choosing this option awards at least three Scatters on the next spin, activating Free Spins and awarding a corresponding cash prize.

Verdict
Old Fellow may not impress you at first, but definitely, there’s more than meets the eye. The graphics are excellent, although the theme itself is not original.
The main game doesn’t offer much excitement, with things getting exciting only when the Free Spins round is activated.
Betting options are minimal, the RTP is above the industry average, while its most appealing part is the massive win potential of up to 50,000 the bet. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
