Dork Unit Review
Dork Unit is a very recent release that has already managed to get the public’s attention, making nerds cool again. Why? Due to its superior graphics, engaging gameplay, and lots of extras!
Dork Unit offers:
- Sticky Multiplier Wilds
- Full Reel Multiplier Wilds
- Free Spins
Dork Unit from Hacksaw Gaming is a video slot with five reels, four rows, and 16 pay lines. The slot combines original and conventional elements, meaning you can expect a strong gaming experience. The base game is entertaining by itself, but once you land wilds, scatters, or special symbols, the atmosphere gets that much heated in the bonus rounds.
The Dork Spins bonus round with full reel wild multipliers, wild multiplier Gift Boxes, and Gift Bonanzas are just a part of what this colorful slot has to offer. Keep on reading to discover all the remaining details!
Themes, Graphics, and Sounds
Dork Unit’s theme falls somewhere between a fruit slot, a candy theme, and a theatrical production of a school show. Essentially, the slot is super playful and almost childish. You’ll notice strong colors and an accompanying piano melody with some arcade sounds and clown honks here and there. The background even changes to a game show theme during the Dork spins.
The lower-paying symbols consist of the classic 10-A royal scale, while the apples, lemons, cherries, carrots, and strawberries represent the premiums. You need at least three matching symbols from left to right to create a win. The strawberry is the highest paying symbol, and it can grant you 10x, 5x, and 3x your bet for a combination of 5, 4, and 3 strawberries, respectively.
In-Game Features
The thing is, you’ll never be bored playing this slot. There’s something going on at almost all times. Let’s review all it has to provide.
Gift Boxes
The wrapped gift boxes represent multiplier wild symbols. They can substitute all other symbols to create wins, and you can expect a multiplier from 1x to 200x, depending on the box type.
Dork Unit offers three forms of gift boxes; Standard with multipliers worth 2x, 3x, or 4x, Rare gift boxes with 5x, 10x, 15x, or 20x multipliers, and Epic gift boxes with 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 150x, or 200x.
The gift boxes will increase your payout when used in a win. If you have more than one such symbol in a winning combination, the slot will add the values together before applying them to your amount.
Furthermore, these symbols can form winning combinations on their own, granting you 10x your bet for a combination of five, which is essentially the same as the highest yielding regular premium symbol.
Gift Bonanza
You will trigger the feature if you land three gift box symbols simultaneously. It will turn the triggering symbols sticky and grant you three spins with the gift boxes in place, meaning incredible rewards. If you land additional boxes, they will also turn sticky, and the number of spins will reset to three. You can play until you spend all awarded spins.
Dork Unit Free Spins
It’s time to introduce the Dork trio of Tiny Timmy, Hefty Hector, and Long Lenny. The slot basically sets the stage for the occurrence of these three characters.
Long Lenny represents the slot’s scatter symbol. If you land three scatters, you will trigger the free spins round, or what is also known as the Dork Spins.
If you land Long Lenny on the middle reels during the bonus round, the symbols on reels 2, 3, or 4 will transform into wild Dork Reels (stacked multiplier wilds) until the end of the free spins.
During the Dork Reels, the three Dorks will randomly land on the reels on each spin. Essentially, they determine the multiplier value on the full reel wilds. You can expect 2x, 3x, or 4x multipliers with Tiny Timmy, 5x, 10x, 15x, and 20x with Hector, and 25x, 50x, 75x, 100x, 150x, and 200x with Lenny.
If you have more than one active Dork Reel during the free spins, it means you can land more than one multiplier at a time. In this case, the slot will combine the values and calculate your balance accordingly.
Buy Bonus
Dork Unit also allows you to buy your way into the bonus modes. You can choose from Featurespins, Gift Bonanza, and Dork Spins.
The Featurespins guarantee that a Gift Box will land on the following spin, along with an RTP of 96.41%. It costs 3x your bet.
The Gift Bonanza costs 100x your bet and guarantees an RTP of 96.38%, while the Dork Spins require 200x your stake, granting you an RTP of 96.35%.
