Dragon Fruit Review
Fruit lovers rejoice! After years of being ignored and set aside, your time has come. With Green Jade Games backing you up, you finally received a beautiful fruit-themed slot to play!
The online slot does more than just look good, though. It offers a simple, engaging sweetness reminiscent of the fruit that inspired its gameplay. How does Dragon Fruit stack up against the competition?
- Medium variance with a 5000x jackpot
- Mystery symbols can create unexpected wins
- Gorgeous fruit-themed graphics
The world is full of interesting plant and animal life. Things we would never come across ordinarily if we just wandered by our local store.
One of these neat plants is the Pitaya, a type of cactus fruit. It is the mascot of Green Jade Games’ latest medium variance release, which offers a 5000x jackpot. Dragon Fruit has just one special feature: mystery icons.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Choosing to set your slot around the fruit is not a new idea. For most software providers, such an idea would just be done in passing.
Meanwhile, this developer goes all out in making sure their game looks awesome.
The whole time we were playing this title, we were craving some fruit. If you need the motivation to eat better, the charming visuals available here might do the trick!
You play this release on a five-reel, three-row board with ten paylines. The number of paylines is fixed, meaning we cannot toggle them on or off at will.
To win, find three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions, following an active payline. Unlike in most titles, Dragon Fruit does not force you to start with the leftmost reel.
Winning combinations can be formed with the leftmost or rightmost reel, even in the middle if other conditions are met.
In-game features
Mystery icons can appear in any position. You can have one mystery symbol present, or several at once.
If multiple mystery icons are on the board, they will all reveal the same symbol hidden beneath. What icon is chosen is entirely random.
As such, there is no way to predict what symbol the mystery icon will reveal. While they are not a sure thing, they still improve your odds of winning.
However, it is possible to land a giant mystery symbol on the board. The giant mystery icon covers a three-reel, three-row space. As such, every time it appears, it forms a guaranteed win.

Verdict
Most fruit-themed games are rather basic in their design. In contrast, Green Jade Games went all out for their release.
The animations are top-notch, as is the background design. Even the symbol designs look cool. Well, apart from the playing card royals. Those just look as bland as ever.
These are the good sides of Dragon Fruit. It looks great, and it has a fantastic top prize. However, it needs additional special features to make it fun to play.
As such, we rate this slot 2 out of 5 stars.
