Dr Wildshock Mad Loot Lab Review
Every once in a while, a gaming studio develops a game about an experimental scientist, giving it an off-beat vibe. Microgaming-powered Gold Coin Studios has produced a quirky game with a lot to offer to slot enthusiasts searching for the unusual.
It has developed a highly original online slot that packs a punch with a few enormously exciting features. A science lab can always be dangerous, but if lucky, you might get away with a lot of cash.
- A highly volatile slot with a generous maximum win of 25,000x the stake
- Any Adjacent Pays
- Rolling Reels, Exploding Wilds and Free Spins
Given the topic, players might have expected a bit wackier audiovisual presentation instead of a minimalist one given to them. If you want to split hairs, you might say it does not suit the atmosphere.
However, the studio has consciously put the appearance in the back seat to make way for the zany action on the reels. Multiple features bring big surprises to the table, with Cascading Wins and Exploding Wilds being in the spotlight.
The Free Spins round is always engaging, and the Buy feature opens exciting possibilities. The high volatility keeps it thoroughly entertaining all the time, and the search for a hefty sum of 25,000x the bet is a quest to enjoy.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
A seemingly regular scientific lab is the place of action. The casino game offers sharp graphics and good animation, but the background remains pretty ordinary, considering the wild nature of the slot.
However, once the reels start spinning, chaos ensues, making you forget how common-looking this laboratory is. The soundtrack is appropriate, with occasional over-the-top beats to match the silly atmosphere.
This slot most likely will not break any records in popularity, but it is a thrilling game with decent payouts for anyone looking for something different.
The action transpires on a standard 5×5 panel, using the Any Adjacent Pays system, meaning cascading wins are in store for you. Landing three to five matching symbols on adjacent reels triggers the Rolling Reels feature.
The paytable utilizes only eight regular symbols and Wilds, while Scatters do not exist. The four low-end symbols are magnets, flasks, an electrical device and a ray gun, all worth 1x the stake for a five-of-a-kind win.
Moreover, there are four premium symbols, including brains, a mutant mouse, a robot and Dr Wildshock himself. If you land five premium symbols in a string, you receive 2x-15x your initial bet.
In-game features
Similarly to other Cascading Wins mechanics, the Rolling Reels feature also removes the winning symbols from the grid. This process makes way for the new ones to fall into their places, with the procedure repeating until there are no more winning combos.
Furthermore, two types of Wilds exist in the game, and they are colored differently. The regular Wilds are yellow, while the exploding ones are red, replacing ordinary pay symbols.
However, every time the exploding Wild is a part of a winning combo, it will bring along 2-4 random Wilds during the next Rolling Reels. The newly-awarded Wilds can land on the existing ones, creating Multiplied Wilds.
They can also hit the existing Exploding Wilds and generate Multiplied Exploding Wilds. Whenever a Wild is used to create a winning combo, it increases the Multiplier by x1. It does not reset throughout the sequence, but it reverts to x1 when it ends.
Dr Wildshock Mad Loot Lab Free Spins
The lack of the Scatter symbols makes the Free Spins round much less attractive than it is supposed to be. The box to the left of the game panel shows three to eight Wild symbols.
The number represents the winning Wild symbols on the current spin to trigger the Bonus round. When you land the required number of Wilds, the game grants you ten Free Spins.
However, virtually nothing changes in the game once you enter the round. You need five or six Wilds for the collection on each spin to trigger three extra Free Spins.
If you still want to go directly to the Bonus round, you may purchase it with the buy bonus feature. The ticket is worth 40x your stake.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The game offers the optimal default RTP of 96.26%, a value above the industry standard. It promises frequent wins, with the rate of 48.29%, which is always appealing to the players. The other possible rates are 94.09% and 92.11%.
There are plenty of wagering options for you, with the minimum bet you can place being $0.2, while the maximum bet is $20. The low betting range will possibly scare high rollers off, but we think everyone can find something to like. You can adjust the game based on your needs and budget, setting all the parameters in the game menu.
The game is expectedly highly volatile, given its quirky nature. Although high rollers may find its betting range unacceptable, the maximum 25,000x win is always appealing. The game’s low-risk-high-reward nature will be attractive to everyone.

Verdict
The game’s quality comes from its fast pace, with cascading wins, high hit frequency and high Free Spins rate. Multiple winning possibilities with constantly entertaining spins containing Exploding Wilds and Multipliers hit the spot.
Dr Wildshock Mad Loot Lab is relentless, and it offers a hefty maximum win of 25,000x. However, there is little to no difference between the base game and the Bonus round.
The main drawback of the game is being one-dimensional. Still, regardless of the lack of versatility, this is a wild ride that is not easily forgettable. We rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
