Nero’s Fortune Review
The Roman Empire has had many strange rulers, but none quite like Nero. It was during his reign that the Great Fire of Rome devastated the city.
If rumours are to be believed, Nero himself ordered the burning to make room for a new palace. Can Quickspin’s online slot uncover the truth, or will it be buried beneath the ashes?
- 8,168x jackpot
- Tumbling reels and cluster pays
- Gorgeous Roman theme
History buffs will no doubt love Nero’s Fortune. It draws inspiration from one of the most devastating fires to have ever afflicted Rome.
There are many theories what caused the fire, and if Nero was truly responsible. The developers lean into the whole thing being intentional, and lean on it to create a fantastic atmosphere.
Available special features includes tumbling reels, burning arrows multipliers and a free spins round.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We have seen many depictions of Rome while playing casino games. However, none of them paired the Eternal City with a bright orange sky and embers flying through the air!
Impressive Roman architecture still stands on both sides of the reels. Just behind them we can see Roman soldiers marching towards the raging inferno.
This creates a visually striking background image that helps this title stand out in a crowded field.
You play this release on a five-reel, five-row board with cluster pays instead of paylines. That means wins are granted by finding five or more matching symbols that appear in adjacent positions.
All winning combinations must be adjacent vertically or horizontally. Diagonal connections cannot form cluster wins. If all of these conditions are met, you receive the associated cash prize.
In-game features
Tumbling reels add a bit more depth to the cluster pay system. After a win happens, icons that were part of it are removed from the board.
Existing symbols will shift downwards to fill any empty spots. At the same time, brand new icons will appear from the top of the playing field.
Tumbling reels allow players to score multiple consecutive wins for the price of a single spin. They are also integral to the burning arrows bonus.
Before tumbling reels pushes existing symbols down, there is a chance a multiplier to be added to the reels. This is added to a blank space, which will then be covered by an icon.
The multiplier remains hidden beneath the symbol until another tumble win reveals it.
Any win in the current spin will be multiplied by the accumulated multiplier value. The burning arrows multipliers reset between spins.
Nero’s Fortune Free Spins
Find three or more Scatters to start the Flames of Nero free spins. Three, four or five Scatters unlock ten, twelve or fourteen free spins.
During the bonus game, multipliers are placed under randomly selected icons every free spin.
Revealed multipliers accumulate during free spins, and only reset when the special feature ends. Players cannot retrigger the Flames of Nero free spins.
