Wukong Hold and Win Review
Chinese legends and mythology have become a quite popular theme for online slots. As the iGaming market expands to become fully global, developers have started experimenting with various themes.
Wukong Hold and Win by Booongo stars the mythical monkey king as he journeys to the west. Along the way, he might stumble upon a grand win or two. Will you be the next lucky winner of this title’s fixed jackpot?
- High volatility with a 5000x jackpot
- Hold & Win bonus game
- Free spins round
The tales of Sun Wukong are numerous. It is one of the most recognisable characters of the famous Chinese tale Journey to the West. Its distinct appearance makes it the perfect pick for a theme!
While he possesses incredible strength, even the mightiest warriors need some help. That is why this release features several bonuses.
They include free spins and a bonus game with fixed jackpots and mystery icons. By using these bonuses, players can win 5000x their total bet.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
If you are familiar with the tale of Wukong, then all the symbols this slot features will be familiar. The game resists going all out the Chinese theme, keeping the background and icon designs relatively tame.
This release keeps its inspiration tasteful, but obvious. With a delightful cloud motif and green colours, the background image is a relaxing view. A perfect backdrop to keep you focused on the reels.
You play Wukong Hold and Win on a five-reel, three-row board with twenty-five fixed paylines. Due to paylines being fixed, we cannot toggle individual win lines to change our wager.
To win, you need three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions starting with the leftmost reel. Winning combinations must follow one of the active paylines, or the associated cash prize will not be paid.
In-game features
Find six or more purple orbs to activate the Hold & Win bonus game. During this special feature, players are granted three re-spins.
Existing bonus icons become sticky, as do any new purple orbs that land on the board. If a new bonus symbol becomes sticky, the number of re-spins is reset to three again.
The re-spins round continues until all three re-spins are spent or all fifteen bonus icons are collected.
Bonus symbols can appear as mini, minor and major bonus icons. If this happens, they will grant the associated fixed jackpot. Winning the grand fixed jackpot requires players to fill all fifteen positions with purple orb bonus icons.
Mystery icons can appear during the bonus game. When they land, they can transform into the mini, minor or major bonus symbol. Mystery symbols are only revealed at the end of the bonus round.
Wukong Hold and Win Free Spins
Three Scatters during normal gameplay award eight free spins. Additionally, you can win an extra eight free spins by finding three Scatters while the bonus is active. Finally, you can activate the bonus game while free spins are active.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this slot is unknown. This is not new for Booongo. The developer does not release the RTP values for their games.
This is a shame, as the rest of the title is quite fun. However, keeping such key information hidden from players is not something we can support.
You can bet between $0.25 and $60 on each spin.
The top prize you can win in this release is 5000x your total stake. This jackpot is won by filling the entirety of the board with bonus symbols. A fitting prize for a highly volatile slot like Wukong Hold and Win!

Verdict
The casino game is fantastic in so many fronts. Players can enjoy great visuals, fun animations and engaging special features. The top prize is also quite attractive.
However, there is one problem with this game. The fact Booongo did not publish the RTP is simply a deal breaker for us.
Currently, we rate it 3 out of 5 stars. A very exciting title, but one whose absent math model leaves us disappointed.
