9 Masks of Fire Hyperspins Review
When Microgaming and Gameburger Studios launched its 9 Masks of Fire slot in 2019, no one could have predicted the release would become so popular.
Players loved the game’s hot, fiery, and exotic theme, with beautiful graphics and immersive gameplay, and were drawn by the prizes offered.
That’s why it comes as no surprise that the renowned developer wanted to elevate the playing experience to another level by adding more excitement to the already successful recipe. The result is 9 Masks of Fire Hyperspins!
- Medium variance with a jackpot of 2,000x the bet
- Twenty fixed paylines
- Players can benefit from HyperSpins mechanic, multipliers, Scatter prizes and the Free Spin wheel
The developers made sure that the new online slot offered everything slot enthusiasts enjoyed in the original 9 Masks of Fire. But they also made sure to provide more opportunities to win thanks to the HyperSpins feature.
There are plenty of opportunities for players to scoop cash payouts. In addition to HyperSpins, multipliers, Scatter prize, and the Free Spins wheel can deliver handsome awards, going up to 2,000x the bet.
We’ve seen more generous slots, but this one is enough for a medium variance title such as this.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Microgaming used simple yet well-designed graphics for this online slot. It successfully combined retro style with an African feel. The slot uses nicely-created classic-styled symbols, while we particularly love the design of masks symbols.
Once the reels start spinning, rhythmical drumming and chanting further add to the excitement, especially as they intensify when things get hotter on the grid.
The action takes place on a standard five-by-three grid with twenty fixed paylines. In practice, that means players won’t be able to lower the number of active paylines.
Winning combinations are created whenever three or more symbols of the same kind land on adjacent reels starting from the leftmost one.
These wins need to be positioned on one of the slot’s paylines, or otherwise, you won’t receive a corresponding cash payout.
In-game features
As the slot’s name suggests, it comes with the HyperSpins feature, which is only available in the base game.
It allows players to spin individual reels as many times as they want, giving them the chance to complete winning combinations, land additional Scatters and mask symbols. The cost of every spin depends on what the reels already hold.
Players can also benefit from Mask symbols. They appear on all positions, with three or more awarding a cash payout. The more masks you land, the bigger your prize will be. Landing all nine of them will deliver the slot’s highest payout, worth 2,000x the bet.
9 Masks of Fire HyperSpins Free Spins
Scatters appear only on the three middle reels to trigger the Free Spins reel and award a prize worth 1x the stake. Players spin the wheel to determine the number of spins and the size of their multiplier.
It’s possible to claim up to thirty spins together with a 2x or 3x multiplier. The multiplier is applied to all wins during the round, except those created by Scatters.
Landing three additional Scatters retriggers the round and awards the same number of spins initially awarded by the Free Spins wheel.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
9 Masks of Fire HyperSpins come with two RTP values. The payout percentage is 96.24% when playing regular mode while using the HyperSpins feature increases it to 96.74%.
Wagering starts at $0.20, while the maximum bet is $60 per spin.
The maximum amount of money you can win on every spin is 2,000x the total bet. This is a solid top payout for a slot game with medium variance. If you’re looking for bigger wins, we suggest finding a more volatile game.

Verdict
If you played the original title, then you’ll be happy to know that the main gameplay has stayed the same, with HyperSpins adding more excitement.
But if 9 Masks of Fire wasn’t your cup of tea, we doubt the sequel (if you can call it that way) will appeal to you.
The new mechanic adds more dynamic to the gameplay, although overusing this feature will get you nothing for your troubles.
All in all, 9 Masks of Fire HyperSpins is a good slot, but nothing spectacular. We rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
