Gemix Review
Play’n GO’s GEMiX sends you to the depths of the Earth mining for precious gemstones. Will you be able to dig up a fortune? Let’s find out in this review of GEMiX.
- Three different game modes
- Cluster-based winning combinations
- Pattern-based leveling and story progression
GEMiX is a 7-reel, 7-row online slot machine developed by Play’n GO.
It features a unique winning combination system, where sufficiently-large clusters of matching symbols combine to win regardless of any paylines.
In this GEMiX review, we’ll examine the look and feel, game mechanics, and special features of this game.
Theme, Graphics, and Sound
GEMiX features a large, 7×7 playing field—far more spacious than most other slots. It incorporates a modern, bright and colorful interface, filled to the brim with various indicators and visual cues.
The game blends a cute cartoon-based aesthetic with mining and gemstone-related themes.
Symbols in the game are made up of enticing gemstones in various colors. The game also introduces several fantasy characters, like gem-mining dwarves, magical wizards, and lollipop-wielding princesses.
A lot is happening on the screen, but GEMiX still achieves an intuitive layout. The background music are cartoonish and whimsical, with very satisfying sound effects. Overall, the fantasy theme is enchanting.
The most interesting part of GEMiX are perhaps the winning combinations. Unlike most other slots, you don’t need to line up symbols along a payline to win.
Instead, winning combinations are made up of five or more matching symbols, clustered in any position.
The larger the clusters, the bigger the payout. It’s quite similar to many popular mobile tile matching games like Bejeweled or Candy Crush.
Winning clusters are cleared from the screen, making way for new symbols that fill in the empty space from above.
In-game Features
GEMiX boasts an impressive range of unique, attractive features. From multiple “worlds”, or game modes, to special symbol transformations, this Play’n GO slot packs many thrilling aspects.
Multiple Worlds
GEMiX lets you choose one of three “worlds” to play in. In each world, you’ll have to complete specific patterns with your winning clusters in order to progress.
Worlds have their own unique wild symbols, which can form part of any cluster and double its payout. Once you’ve covered three patterns, you’ll get a special world bonus and move on to the next world.
Crystal Charge
Like any tile matching game, GEMiX is built for combos. The bigger the clusters you clear off the board, the more gemstones will fall into place, triggering even more clusters.
These subsequent wins stack up, and once you clear 20 gems, you’ll unleash a Crystal Charge.
This special bonus feature can transform symbols, triggering huge bonus clusters or special cluster multipliers.
Clearing at least 40 gems at once will also trigger a Super Charge, multiplying your payout for the entire round.
Wilds
Wild symbols in GEMiX are world-dependent. In the gem-miner’s world, up to ten wild Lanterns can appear on the reels.
The wizard’s world features up to eight sticky wild Spellbooks, which endure during combos.
In the princess world, Lollipops are wild, and spread from edge to edge on non-winning rounds.
All wilds can stand in for any other symbol in the game.

GEMiX offers a slightly above-average RTP value of 96.83%.
The game boasts medium volatility, with a maximum potential payout of 6025.5x your stake.
The highest payout an individual cluster can achieve is 2000x, not counting any multipliers.
Bet sizes range from $0.50 to $100, making GEMiX well-suited for players of any bankroll.
If you want to play this game, Dunder Casino is a great place to start. They have a welcome bonus up to $600!
Verdict
GEMiX certainly offers a unique experience, unlike anything you’ll get from other online slots. The layout and mechanics will be familiar to Bejeweled or Candy Crush players.
Still, it doesn’t offer the challenge these games do, as you can’t control your combinations.
However, it’s a refreshing take on traditional slots. Letting players progress through different worlds with special rules is a very interesting feature.
With unique gameplay, decent RTP, and medium volatility, GEMiX offers hours of well-balanced fun.
Our final rating for GEMiX is 5 out of 5 stars, a great addition to every Canadian online casino.
