Microgaming’s Wheel of Wishes takes us on a journey to exotic Arabian lands. Will you spin your way to a great treasure, or will the wheel get the best of you?
We’ll find out in this Microgaming slot review.
- Unique Giant Symbol Power Spins
- Huge Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus
- Handy Permanent Power Spins
Wheel of Wishes is a 5-reel, 3-row, 10-payline online slot machine developed by Microgaming. It’s part of the company’s line of progressive jackpot slots.
In this review, we’ll take a look at the game’s theme, graphics, sound, and in-game features.
Theme, Graphics, and Sound
Wheel of Wishes combines the aesthetics and visual imagery of an Arabian theme with fortune wheel mechanics. Thematically, it’s a bit inconsistent.
Symbols referencing treasures, golden lamps, magic potions and gems sit side by side with playing cards and generic Wild symbols.
In terms of graphics, the game packs a lot of bright, colorful symbols and a few subtle animations. Graphics are quite polished and high-resolution, looking sharp and crisp on both mobile and desktop devices.
As for the sound design, Wheel of Wishes has a mysterious, thrilling, and exotic soundtrack. The background music has a nice variety to it and will keep you focused on the game. Sound effects are mild and not overly distracting, which is nice.
To make a winning combination in Wheel of Wishes, you’ll need to line up three or more matching symbols.
In-Game Features
The game offers several interesting in-game features that are bound to pique your interest.
Wild Symbols
Wheel of Wishes includes a Wild symbol. It has a fairly basic design, with the word “WILD” spelled out. Wild symbols can substitute any other symbol in a winning combination, except for Scatters.
Scatter Symbols
The game also incorporates Scatter symbols, which take the form of a colorful fortune wheel. Three or more Scatter symbols trigger a winning combination. Two or more Scatter symbols trigger the Power Spin feature.
Power Spins Feature
A Power Spin is triggered every time you land two or more Scatter symbols. During a Power Spin, the three central reels will be replaced by a giant 3×3 high-tier symbol.
The first and last reels are replaced by stacked high-tier symbols. It’s a chance to land a huge win. If you land a full Giant Bonus Wheel, you’ll trigger the Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus feature.
Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus Feature
A full Bonus Wheel triggers the game’s progressive jackpot feature. It’s a guaranteed jackpot, though the size is variable.
The Minor Jackpot starts at $10, with the Major Jackpot jumping up to $50,000. The Wowpot! begins at a staggering $2,000,000.
Power Mode Feature
The Power Mode feature lets you activate permanent Power Spins. In order to do that, you’ll have to increase your bet size by 10x. Every Power Spin has greatly increased chances of trigger the Wheel of Wishes Jackpot Bonus.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
Wheel of Wishes has a rather unexciting RTP value of 93.34%, below the industry average of 96%.
Activating the Power Spins feature brings down the RTP to somewhere between 88% and 90%, depending on your bet size. The game has low volatility, offering frequent, small payouts.
Bet sizes range from $0.10 to $25.00 per spin, offering a range suitable for low-stakes and middling players.
High rollers may be better served by other games, though, as the max bet is rather restrictive.
The max payout is variable, as the progressive jackpot changes in size over time. It begins at $2,000,000.
Verdict
With massive progressive jackpots and a bright, colorful interface, Wheel of Wishes is certainly eye-catching.
However, under the surface, the game brings a low RTP that only grows more disappointing with the Power Spins feature.
That said, the low volatility means you can expect frequent modest payout, which is good for a tight bankroll.
While there are many in-game features to speak of, a free spins mechanic would make a nice addition.
Overall, our final rating for Microgaming’s Wheel of Wishes is 3 out 5 stars.
