Holmes and the Stolen Stones Review
Detective slots have become increasingly popular in the industry over the years, so it is natural to have one featuring Sherlock Holmes. The greatest literary detective of all time searches for the missing gems in this engaging slot from Yggdrasil.
It sends Holmes and Watson on an adventure that might turn mighty lucrative. Namely, the online slot features five local progressive Jackpots waiting to fill your pockets.
The winnings outside the Jackpots are pretty thin, but things become somewhat different once you land a progressive prize. Punters will need to be brave, patient, and fortunate to do it.
- Low volatility with a maximum win of 600x the stake outside the Jackpots
- Twenty paylines
- Five Jackpots and two Bonuses
The graphics are crisp and sharp, revealing the impressive visuals, as usual with the games from Yggdrasil. The music is adequately foreboding, fitting for the dangerous environment players are in. Various perils lurk in the background as Holmes and Watson approach the gemstones.
The entire audio-visual aspect is praiseworthy, delivering a 19th-century London atmosphere. Numerous Jackpots and Bonus rounds are the game’s main assets, attracting a large audience.
The iconic theme, fantastic presentation, and thrilling gameplay make this game popular and appealing for large audiences. Do you have what it takes to solve the mystery?
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
As said, graphics are never an issue with Yggdrasil. The company consistently delivers in the audio-visual field, giving the players ominous and gritty London filled with dangers.
The soundtrack is adequately tense and in tune with the atmosphere, maintaining the feeling of mystery throughout the game. The mission will keep you thoroughly entertained, and there are numerous winning chances.
However, the base game needed to be slightly more lucrative. Moreover, the low volatility promises frequent wins, as insubstantial as they are. However, the maximum win of 600x the bet, not counting the Jackpots, does not appeal to anyone.
The action occurs on a classic 5×3 game grid with twenty paylines. Land three to five matching symbols on a single payline to grab a win. The low-tier symbols are beautifully designed card suits that grant 6.25x-10x the stake for a five-of-a-kind win.
Moreover, there are four premium symbols, including a Magnifying Glass (37.5x), a Notebook (50x), Watson (100x), and Holmes (200x the bet for five).
Bonus and Free Spins symbols give 1,000 coins for four and 10,000 coins for five. There are no standard Wild icons, but you can collect Diamond Shards to trigger one of the five Jackpots.
The game provides multiple winning opportunities; you only need to take them. If Lady Luck smiles upon you, nothing is impossible.
In-game features
The game is all about the Bonus features. Players trigger the Warehouse Bonus, an engaging “pick me“ feature, by landing three or more Bonus symbols in the base game.
In addition, four symbols award 1,000 coins, while five of them pay 10,000 coins. The dark alley from the base game moves into an ominous warehouse with eighteen wooden crates.
Punters pick boxes to reveal their values, which include 20, 40,100, 200, or 1,000 coins and the precious Shards. They are used to trigger the Jackpots, while the Smoke Bomb ends the feature.
When you return to the base game, shards remain above the reels, bringing you one step closer to activating the Jackpot Free Spins.
Holmes and the Stolen Stones Free Spins
Players can trigger the Jackpot Free Spins in two ways, among them landing three or more Free Spins symbols. Additionally, you can collect five Shards above the reels.
If you succeed in doing the latter, you will need only four more shards to win the given Jackpot. Like the Warehouse Bonus, when four or five icons appear simultaneously, you receive 1,000 or 10,000 coins.
Furthermore, every win during the round is multiplied by x3, giving you a chance to win up to 600x the bet. Diamonds will frequently appear during the round, with five of the same colour awarding the Jackpot.
The five local progressive Jackpots are located above the reels in ascending value order. The seed values for the five Jackpots are $40, $200, $600, $1,500 and $10,000, respectively.
3.4% of all wagers go to the Jackpot pool, and the Jackpots are limitless. However, the game was predicted to award more frequent but less lucrative awards.
They will rarely reach particularly enormous amounts. In addition, each Jackpot should potentially land once it reaches three times its initial value. The Jackpot Free Spins round is not re-triggerable, so you will have only ten attempts to change your life.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The default RTP value is 96.8%, going slightly above the industry standard. With the hit frequency of 25.6%, every fourth spin on average is a winning one. Lucrative winning chances are just around the corner.
The game offers a solid betting range, with the lowest wager you can place standing at $0.20. On the other hand, the highest bet you can lay is $40.
Holmes and the Stolen Stones is a game everybody can afford and try out. Due to the mentioned betting range and low volatility, it is not reserved strictly for daredevils.
The volatility stands at 26, meaning wins will be less substantial but more frequent. The excitement and tension are always high due to unlimited progressive Jackpots.
The streets are rough, and the win of 600x the bet does not sound tempting at all. However, the flip side of the coin has unlimited Jackpots in store for you.

Verdict
The game looks fantastic, keeping the Yggdrasil tradition of developing visually stunning titles. The base game seemingly does not offer too much, but Bonus features make up for it handsomely.
The RTP is OK, and if you are lucky enough, this thriller might turn out highly lucrative. The unlimited progressive Jackpots are four words everybody likes to hear, so a larger audience will indubitably be there.
We think players will have a wonderful time. Our rating is 4 out of 5 stars.
