Plunderland Review
Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland has captivated generations of readers around the world, serving as an inspiration for many movies, video games, and even slot releases. It appears the online gambling industry adores Alice and often uses the popular novel as an inspiration for new games.
The team from Relax Gaming is the latest in line of developers to take players to the land of wonders. This time, they’ll be focused on plundering the place instead of meeting other quirky characters.
- High volatility with a maximum payout of 10,266x bet
- The Cluster Pays system
- The list of features includes the White Rabbit symbol, Free Spins, and the bonus buy feature
Relax Gaming’s take on the popular story comes with a rollercoaster of excitement. Slot enthusiasts can look forward to plenty of chances of claiming wins. The White Rabbit symbol is the star of the game, with all other features centred around this icon.
There’s the Free Spins round and the bonus buy feature, where available. When it comes to prizes on offer, they can go up to 10,266x stake. Although we’ve seen more generous releases, this amount is more than a suitable prize for a game boasting high volatility.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Developers at Relax Gaming could have let their imagination run wild, but to our surprise, that didn’t happen.
That’s why Plunderland is probably one of the most restrained Wonderland-themed slots in the market at this moment. Don’t get us wrong, the casino game visuals look nice, but we expected more from the renowned software supplier.
The adventure takes place on a seven-reel, seven-row grid, with Plunderland using the Cluster Pays system to deliver payouts. At least five matching symbols are needed to form a win.
They have to land next to each other in vertical and horizontal directions. Once a win is created, the tumble mechanic will remove the triggering clusters from the reels, making room for new symbols to drop into empty positions.
A cluster can hold up to thirty-two icons, with the highest-paying one worth 500x the stake.
In-game features
The White Rabbit Wild is essential to almost every feature the game has in store. Its main role is to substitute for other regulars and help players create additional wins.
The rabbit is also present on every spin, with every subsequent cluster win taking him one step closer to the hot spot.
The hot spot is the centre position on the main playing area. Once the Wild gets there, it will expand in size: at first 2×2, followed by 3×3, then 4×4, and 5×5 in the end.
If the expanded Wild becomes part of a winning combination, it will leave the grid and reappear in its standard size. The Wild also comes with a multiplier, whose size goes up by one after every cluster win.
Plunderland Free Spins
Landing three Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels within a single spin will trigger the bonus round, also known as the Mad Hatter’s Free Spins. Slot lovers get a total of six spins.
The best thing about this feature is that the multiplier Wild doesn’t reset between spins, while expanded symbols will not return to their original size after a win either.
They will simply cascade off the grid and reappear in a random spot. The next time it reaches the hot spot, it will return to its previous size and not start from 2×2.
In some jurisdictions, players can trigger the Free Spins bonus round with the bonus buy feature. All it takes is a payment of 70x bet.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The default RTP for Plunderand is 96.43%, well above the current industry average. It goes up even higher when the bonus buy option is used. When this occurs, the RTP increases to 97.14%.
Betting starts at $0.10, while the maximum amount of money you can spend on every spin is $100.
As we already mentioned, this is a highly volatile release, meaning payouts won’t be frequent. However, they’ll certainly be worth waiting for, as they can go up to 10,266x the stake. It’s a suitable prize for all players skilled enough to tackle the slot’s nature.
Verdict
Plunderland represents an excellent take on the ever-popular Alice in Wonderland theme. The visuals are stunning, the atmosphere is immersive right from the start, and the gameplay is filled with chances to win.
The White Rabbit is the star of the game, and you’ll be reminded of it in both the main game and during the bonus round.
Despite being one of the most restrained Wonderland games out there, it comes with an appealing top prize of 10,266x the bet. All in all, it’s 4 out of 5 stars from us.
