The Dog House Review
You won’t be barking up the wrong tree when you take on this fun cartoon-like game. Bark along with your new canine friends and get them to help you find the juicy treats or that elusive bone.
Some of the exciting features are:
- Simple and fun, but don’t be deceived. This is for both novices and high rollers.
- You’ll love the sticky wilds. Who doesn’t?
- When the pawprints show up, the game changes pace with the free spins.
The Dog House slot by Pragmatic Play is a five-reel video slot with 20 paylines. It’s a fun casino game with a touch of canine silliness.
It’s straightforward but will give you hours of entertainment and the possibility of big wins.
The canine-themed slot includes free spins and multipliers that can soar up to 9x your stake and a possible 6750x payout in the free spins.
The Theme, Graphics, and Sounds
The online slot plays out in a doghouse with four dogs. You’ll discover the Alpha dog, a Rottweiler and his friends, a Shih Tzu, a Pug and a Wiener.
The background is a suburban scene with picture-perfect houses, a picket fence, butterflies flying past and plants swaying in the breeze.
The reels have stylized 10s to Aces with the more valuable symbols in the form of bones, collars and of course, the dogs.
The music accompanying the game is waltz-like, which adds to the colourful cartoon design while the oversized symbols emerge from their frames.
The sound effects when the giant paw lands build up your expectation of a win, and the dogs are always cheering you on when you land those three bonus symbols.
In-Game Features
There may not be loads of features, but you still have the potential to win big. The wild symbol, a dog kennel, appears on reels 2, 3 and 4.
The wilds substitute for all other symbols except the scatters and come with 2x and 3x multipliers. If multiple wilds appear on the same payline, it could give you up to a 9x multiplier.
If you land five Rottweiler symbols on a payline, you’ll get 37.5x of your stake. Just what you would expect from the Alpha dog. Apart from that, he pays 2.5x if you land three and 7.5x if you land four.
The Dog House Free Spins
When the scatter symbol, a paw print, appears on reels 1, 3 and 5 simultaneously, the free spins bonus is triggered, and you also receive 5x your stake.
The action then moves to the doghouse, where the Rottweiler spins a primitive wheel to reveal how many free spins you’ll get. The least is nine and the most 27.
With the free spins, new reels stacked with the premium symbols will appear. Added to this, the multiplier wilds that land on the reels remain sticky on the screen until the feature ends.
This combination can boost your payouts up to 6750x your stake. The wilds have 2x and 3x, and if you land wilds on three of the middle reels, you increase your winnings 9x.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
The RTP of 96.51% is a bit higher than the average of 96%.
The volatility is high, and the maximum payout 6750x your stake, which will suit high rollers.
However, it’s also suitable for novice players as there is enough excitement to hold you spellbound. Your bet can be as low as $0.20 up to $100.
The Verdict
At first glance, you may think this game was only suitable for dog lovers, but that’s not the case. Yes, it’s fun and silly, but it’s a highly volatile game that gives you the opportunity of scoring big wins.
Even though it isn’t jam-packed with features, it’s still entertaining, especially the scene when you trigger the free bonuses.
It’s a thoroughly enjoyable game, and when you land those sticky wilds when there’s always a rush. Join in the fun, bark along and dig up a whole lot of simple action.
We would rate this slot 4 out of 5 stars, or should that rather be four barks?
