Curse of the Mummies Review
Ancient Egypt is always a good place for an online slot, being one of the most popular game locations in the industry. The exotic taste of those games appeals to many punters, creating incredible adventures.
Blue Guru Games takes its players to Egypt to deliver a story of vengeful mummies eager to punish people. It sounds intriguing, and it is, for hunting riches while fighting for your life is attractive and dangerous.
The provider keeps it short and straightforward when it comes to gameplay, with a few features and no complex mechanics. Decent payouts and rich design round up the story quite nicely.
- Highly volatile slot with a maximum payout of 9,138x the stake
- 243 paylines
- Rise from the Crypt and Free Spins
Visuals are fantastic, and a traditional soundtrack is enchanting, creating a magnificent audio-visual aspect. The appearance seems expensive, but the casino game has fast-paced gameplay and overall simplicity without perplexing features and mechanics.
Additionally, the developers have employed only a feature or two, relying on the slot’s general appeal. Curse of the Mummies is a decent time-killer with its share of problems, but when something is great, it is really great.
Ancient Egypt has rarely looked more lavish in a slot than in this one, but it misses a thing or two to be an all-time classic.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We have already mentioned the graphics are crisp and sharp, with rich visuals and a fitting soundtrack to accompany them. The entire audio-visual aspect genuinely contributes to the game by putting players on the spot and creating a beautiful atmosphere.
Nothing particularly innovative is on display here, but it looks phenomenal. The gameplay might have been a little better and slightly more appealing, but we will get to that in a minute.
It does wear thin quickly, but it has a few vital points. The provider indubitably deserves to be followed more closely in the future.
The action plays out on a standard 5×3 grid, with 243 paylines and a few attractive features. Hit three to five matching icons on adjacent reels to score a win with typical Egyptian symbols.
The low-end symbols include an Ankh, a Lotus Flower, a Scorpion, and a Cobra, granting 2x to 2.4x the stake for a combination of five. Moreover, premium symbols include four Mummies in green, blue, purple, and red colours.
The Green Mummy awards 3.2x the bet for five, while the Blue and the Purple one pay 4x. The Red Mummy is the most lucrative regular symbol that gives 8x the stake for a five-of-a-kind hit.
Wilds replace standard symbols in winning combinations, while Scatters and Super Scatters activate the Free Spins round.
In-game features
The features include a Rise from the Crypt modifier and the Free Spins round, not counting Wilds and Scatters. The Bonus Buy is also possible in some jurisdictions.
Wilds & Scatters
Wilds substitute the regular symbols in winning combinations, while Scatters trigger the Free Spins round. Super Scatters carry a bigger Multiplier into the game.
Rise from the Crypt
The feature can trigger on any spin and turn any paying symbol into a Wild or a Scatter. It might generate new winning combinations that bring lucrative payouts.
Rise from the Crypt Free Spins
A Scatter on each reel is required to receive fifteen free spins, with regular Scatters appearing in stacks of three. Furthermore, Super Scatters appear as single symbols, awarding an x10 Multiplier when they trigger the Bonus round.
Regular Scatters, on the other hand, carry x1 to x5 Multipliers. Finally, if you land five more Scatters during the round, you will receive five extra spins. They will come with x1-x5 Multipliers to boot.
Bonus Buy
Some jurisdictions allow the possibility of using the Bonus Buy feature that provides four possible options. The first one is worth 80x the bet, bringing the standard probability of triggering Scatters with the same odds as in a regular game.
Other options guarantee one, two, or three Super Scatters landed. They cost 140x, 200x, and 260x the stake, respectively.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The default RTP amounts to 95.73%, going below the industry standard, with the hit frequency standing at 29.72%. A winning spin arrives on every three or four spins, which does not sound too bad.
Numerous betting options are available, with the lowest bet you can lay at $0.25. The highest wager one can place is $100, meaning it will appeal to daredevils and penny-pinchers alike.
High rollers will not be turned off, and modest players can find a value tailored to their budget. Set your preferences and enjoy the game.
Curse of the Mummies is a highly volatile slot (marked 5/5), indicating bigger wins that do not come so frequently. A decent maximum payout of 9,138x the stake will equally tempt moderate spenders and risk-takers.

Verdict
Curse of the Mummies is a beautiful-looking game with rich visuals whose design will delight slot enthusiasts. Simplicity is the name of the game, as the provider keeps everything as tight and concise as possible.
Features and the Bonus round have a lot to show for it, especially with lucrative Multipliers. However, the team did not do anything to make the game stand out from the rest of the Egyptian slots. They will need to offer something more to rise to the top, we give it 3 out of 5 stars.
