Dazzle Me Megaways Review
The original Dazzle Me was one of NetEnt’s most notable classics. It was a online slot made for us who loved to play. Its unique board layout made it a smashing success and inspired countless copycats over the years.
Now, NetEnt is giving this game a makeover and adding new mechanics in the form of Dazzle Me Megaways. Can this new version replicate the success of the original?
- Medium-high variance with a 20,000x jackpot
- Uses the well-known layout of the original
- Megaways adds new flavour to a familiar formula
Megaways remakes seem to be all the rage right now. After remaking several of their classics, NetEnt has finally set its sights on Dazzle Me. Visually, not much has changed.
The symbol designs look nicer than they did before, but that is about it. The addition of Megaways also added a sixth reel, which was not in the original release.
The volatility has also gone up, allowing you to win up to 20,000x your total stake. Achieving this is only possible using the Dazzling Wild Reels and free spins special features.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Dazzle Me Megaways looks better than the original, though the change is not drastic. The developer clearly did their best to keep a similar look for the new slot.
The bright, colourful background is still present, but now we can see a little more of it. The largest visual upgrade comes in the form of icon designs.
The gems, bells, and lucky sevens look much better now. The number of symbols has also increased to accommodate a larger playing field.
You play this game on a 5-5-7-7-9-9 board with up to 99,225 ways to win. The height of each reel changes every time you spin the reels, as does the number of ways to win for that round.
Wins are granted for finding at least three matching icons next to one another. All winning combinations must start with the leftmost reel, or the relevant cash prize will not be awarded.
In-game features
A new addition to NetEnt’s release are cascading reels. After a winning combination occurs, symbols that were part of the win are removed from the board.
Existing icons fall down to fill in any empty spaces. Meanwhile, brand new symbols will fall down from the top. This system allows multiple consecutive wins to occur on a single spin.
Every spin has a chance of activating the Dazzling Wild Reels bonus. This will choose up to three reels to transform them into Dazzling Wild Reels.
Only Wilds can land on the transformed reels, increasing your odds of winning substantially. However, non-Wild icons can appear in these reels when the reels cascade.
The first reel cannot become a Dazzling Wild Reel. However, reels two, three, four, five, and six can.
Dazzle Me Megaways Free Spins
Find four Scatters anywhere on the board to win eight free spins. Every additional Scatter on top of the first four awards four extra free spins.
During free spins, you are guaranteed to get at least one Dazzling Wild Reel. These guaranteed Dazzling Wild Reels remain Wild even during cascading reels.
The number of Wilds landing on each Dazzling Wild Reel is equal to the counter above that reel. The counter starts at two and increases every time Wilds on that respective reel form a winning combination.
