Desperate Dawgs Review
Desperate Dawgs is for the fans of old-school country slots. With low to medium volatility, this slot will keep you on the hook at all times!
Desperate Dawgs offers:
- Multiple bonus games
- Fun wild west theme
- Free Spins
Reflex Gaming developed Desperate Dawgs as part of Yggdrasil’s Master’s Program. The slot features five reels, three rows, and 20 pay lines.
Even though it’s a new release from March 2025, it delivers a pretty old-fashioned look. There is no wide array of features, accounting for a straightforward play.
Players can primarily benefit from the bonus symbols with attached cash prizes, free spins, and multipliers. In continuance, you can find a detailed review of the Desperate Dawgs slot!
Themes, Graphics, and Sounds
Desperate Dawgs features a retro wild west theme. The overall design is done in pleasing pastel tones. The desert background includes cactuses, old-dated buildings, and shops.
You can find the lower-value hearts, spades, clubs, and diamonds, followed by the higher-yielding pistol and sheriff’s badge on the reels.
You need at least three matching symbols to form a win. However, there is an exception. A combination of two of the top paying symbol, the logo, can also grant you a payout consideration.
The three premiums can deliver you 10x to 25x for a combination of five. The slot also offers a wild, which can substitute for all others to form winning combinations.
In-game Features
If you land at least three wagon train bonus symbols, you will trigger the Wagon Trail feature. It displays three options with hidden, attached cash prizes.
At this point, you can choose only one. Keep in mind that if you activate this feature with more bonus symbols, it will offer higher prize values.
If you simultaneously land the Bank Buster bonus symbols on the first, third, and fifth reel, you will activate the Bank Buster feature. Here, you select numbers to crack the safe’s code. Once you do, the slot will award you a cash prize.
Desperate Dawgs Free Spins
Landing three or more crime spree symbols triggers the Free Spins feature. During this round, there is an active progressive multiplier.
More precisely, the multiplier increases by one after each spin. You can also re-trigger the Free Spins, with a maximum of 30x.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
Desperate Dawgs offers an RTP of 95.03%, below the industry average. Check out our best RTP slots list for some better options!
Its model is balanced with the low to medium volatility, accounting for frequent, lower amount payouts.
More precisely, with a hit rate of 28.47%, every one in 3.5 spins, on average, results in a winning combination.
The betting range is between $0.20 and $100 per spin. However, the game is appropriate primarily for casual players, as opposed to high-stakers.
Verdict
There is massive uncertainty as to why the developers delivered such old-dated technology. Maybe it was intentionally, or perhaps it was due to their limited resources.
Despite the reason, Desperate Dawgs lacks visual, sounds, and feature quality. The best part about this game is the re-triggerable free spins.
Apart from this, there are three bonus symbols and an incremental multiplier, accounting for diversity.
Unfortunately, the slot’s RTP is below average, so that even casual players would not favor this game much.
Overall, we give this slot a 2 out of 5 stars rating due to it’s low RTP and lacking quality.
