Danger! High Voltage Megapays Review
Disco-themed games are always a blast to play. They might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the distinct theme makes it an attractive pick for players and software providers. Today, we check out Big Time Gaming’s latest addition to this slot type.
Danger High Voltage Megapays combine the beloved disco groove with the fun of Megapays! The online slot has various exciting extra features, including four progressive jackpots shared with all other Megapays games.
- High RTP slot game with 39,620x top prize
- Four progressive jackpots that can exceed the top prize
- 4096 ways to win
Big Time Gaming’s release goes all-in on the disco theme. The reels are surrounded by large panels full of colourful screens. The soundtrack helps bring the game’s themes to life, which is a massive plus for Danger High Voltage Megapays.
While the visuals look good, they do not distract from the gameplay. The game’s bonuses help keep the excitement high since each spin has a chance of revealing big wins.
Will these bonuses be enough to win players over? Join us for an extensive review of this Big Time Gaming release to find out.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The game embraces its theme but does not stick to the script 100% of the time. The background image looks cool, but it could be better. However, we like the backdrop changing in response to activating extra features.
The symbol designs offer some disco-themed icons, but most are unrelated to clubbing.
Available icons include playing card royals, tacos, disco balls, gold bells, and Day of the Dead skulls. The collection is fascinating, but we must wonder how skulls or gold bells wound up in a disco club.
We play this game on a six-reel playing field with 4,096 ways to win. Ways to win are more flexible than standard paylines, making wins more likely to occur.
Playing card royals are the least valuable symbols. Their payouts range from 0.4x to 1.25x your total stake for six-of-a-kind wins.
The Day of the Dead skull is the highest paying icon, worth 25x for a six-symbol win. Wilds and Scatters do not grant cash prizes but offer extra features.
In-game features
Danger High Voltage Megapays have three bonus features players can use. Two bonuses focus on different free spins features. The third bonus triggers when players win a Megapays jackpot.
High Voltage Free Spins
Land three or more Scatters to win cash prizes and free spins. High Voltage free spins start players with 15 free spins with a special High Voltage Wild. The Wild can appear on reels two, three, four, and five.
The High Voltage Wild can appear with a multiplier. These multipliers range between 11x and 66x when active. That makes this Wild a very welcome sight at all times.
The best part of this extra feature is that we can retrigger it without limits. Finding three more Scatters grants fifteen more free spins.
Gates of Hell Free Spins
This bonus also requires at least three Scatters to get activated. Picking Gates of Hell free spins grants seven free spins.
One symbol is randomly selected during this bonus to become a sticky Wild. It remains a sticky Wild until the free spins end. Sticky Wilds can appear on reels two to five.
Players win three more free spins if sticky Wilds cover a reel entirely. That means a maximum of nineteen free spins from a single Gates of Hell free spins activation.
Megapays
Players trigger Megapays jackpots randomly on any base game spin. That means they cannot trigger during either free spins bonus. Megapays uses a different backdrop, which features the Megapays Ladder.
Progressing up the ladder is straightforward. Every time a Megapays symbol lands, it progresses one step on the ladder. We need four icons to win the mini jackpot and fifteen symbols to get the maximum value mega jackpot.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
Danger High Voltage Megapays have an RTP of 96.39%. This is better than the 96% slot average and better than the usual RTP we see for progressive jackpot slots. The hit frequency for this release is 43.47%, which means a win every 2.3 spins.
The game has high volatility. Players looking to get big wins can look forward to Danger High Voltage Megapays.
It can grant a fantastic prize even without progressive jackpots, but it will not relinquish that prize easily. Casino members can bet between $0.20 and $25 on each spin.
Verdict
Progressive jackpot slots usually laser-focus on the jackpots to the point of leaving out other features. However, that is not the case in Danger High Voltage Megapays by Big Time Gaming.
It has two extra features with promising rewards. The theme is superb, and the game has a fantastic top prize even without the Megapays jackpots.
As for what we would improve? Better symbol designs would make this release that much more attractive. We rate this title 4 out of 5 stars.
