Valley Of The Gods Review
Valley of the Gods from Yggdrasil is a bit more ominous than it sounds.
You always get a creeping sensation that something is about to happen, and justifiably so with its Ancient Egyptian theme. It’s without a doubt that this game is in a class of its own.
- Jackpots as big as $580,000
- Expanding grid adds to your winning potential
- Up to 3,125 ways to win
Yggdrasil is also responsible for bringing you Tut’s Twist. If you’re a fan of this developer’s previous releases, then this is another exciting title for you.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The game’s themed in an Egyptian setting with the Gods Horus and Anubis; they stand guard at the door of fortune, glaring at you stonily.
The graphics are unrealistically smooth but compliment the storyline. Valley of the Gods is captivating, revealing many opportunities as you destroy the blockers and collect scarabs.
Its background music enhances the effect up to a point, but its lack of complexity does become repetitive.
The game structure has five rows and reels and uses a Ways to Win system. Each win unblocks more of the board, thus, offering additional routes to victory.
Triumphs start streaming in when you collect three or more matching symbols in the adjacent columns.
Each winning combination will release a golden scarab. These glowing bugs trigger the game’s additional features as they collect on Horus or Anubis.
The blue scarab beetles boost the win multipliers, and the red contributes towards an extra life.
In-Game Features
Valley of the Gods offers an initial 45 potential shots at victory, but once you get rid of all the blockers, the chances increase to 3,125. It is not the easiest thing to accomplish.
Instead of having your usual 5 x 5 array, the initial set-up gives you only 13 squares. The blockers behave precisely as their name suggests.
They take up three spaces in every corner of the board, reducing the playable rows by two; essentially, you’ll improve your chances of winning by winning.
Valley of the Gods Respins
The most iconic bonus feature of the slots game is the respin for every win.
If your budget allows for ten spins and seven of them are winning combinations, you’ll get to play 17 times. Who knows what can happen in that extra window?
If you unlock all the symbols on the game, the main feature kicks in. Here, you’ll get spins even if you don’t win.
Five of those red scarabs will give you an extra life, and your multipliers also increase by one for each blue one you land on the reels.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
The RTP is 96.2%, which is marginally over the average for online slots.
The volatility is medium to high, which drops the regularity of wins, making them more significant when they land.
Each spin ranges from $0.10 to $125, and thus, it’ll suit both the prince and the pauper.
Verdict
Valley of the Gods offers something for everyone, especially with the wide betting range. Unfortunately, the volatility could make the game potentially expensive for the irregular player.
Many mark it as a negative point. However, we feel it’s part of the player experience, and we won’t allow it to affect the rating.
The wins won’t come easy as you battle your way past the “blockers.” We can accept this, as it’s the character of the game.
And now for the ratings. The music needs attention. Playing for longer than a short-time soon has you searching for the mute button.
That said, this game gets a 4 out of 5 stars. Valley of the Gods falls just shy of the mark, but it’s worth a spin regardless.
