Cupcakes Review
Candy-themed slots are always in-game. NetEnt decided to provide another slot this season named Cupcakes. The name reminds us of something sweet and mouth-watering, but is the gameplay as attractive as the name?
Cupcakes Offers:
- Free Spins
- Multiplier
- Scatters
Cupcakes is a 6×7 slot grid with a Scatter Pays mechanic. To create a win, the players should land at least eight matching symbols anywhere on the reels.
As soon as you enter the candy-themed world, you will be taken to a sweet wonderland that gives you a chance to benefit from many multipliers and Free Spins. But what else can you find? In continuance, you can read our detailed review and learn more about this online slot.
Themes, Graphics, and Sounds
The Cupcakes slot reminds us of some candy world high in the clouds. Everything is pink and purple, and there are different types of candies and cupcakes. There might not be much, but the view is definitely worth it.
On the reels, you will find two groups of symbols – Cupcakes and Gumdrops. Each group consists of seven differently colored sweets and treats. The Gumdrops represent the low-paying symbols, while the Cupcakes depict the higher-paying ones. Now, let’s move to the features and see how the gameplay works.
In-Game Features
The gameplay of this candy-themed slot consists of four features that are decent enough, but let’s see how they work.
Avalanche Feature
When a cluster of symbols wins, the Avalanche mechanic is activated, which clears the winning symbols from the board and causes new symbols to drop down and fill in the empty spaces. Until there are no more wins, this system will continue to operate in this manner.
The entire prize amount earned throughout the sequence is then multiplied by any multiplier, and the prize is awarded.
Multipliers
Gumdrops show up in any position and are 1×1 in size, whereas Cupcakes are 2×2 in size and either fall to the bottom of the grid or stack on top of one another. Gumdrops participate in Scatter Pays, but they gather on top of a Cupcake’s frosting when one of the same colors lands on the screen.
Once the Cupcake is loaded with at least 10 Gumdrops, its multiplier begins to increase the total. Random multiplier values of 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 25, 30, 50, or 100x are offered with cupcakes.
Crush Feature
Both the regular game and the bonus game contain the Crush feature. The Crush feature is activated when at least two Gumdrops appear on each reel of a winning combination that includes five or more Gumdrops over two reels.
After then, a cupcake tumbles through the reel pair. It should be noted that this feature won’t activate if the reel pair has the Scatter symbol, two Cupcake symbols, or if there are currently four Cupcakes on the grid.
Cupcakes Free Spins
10, 13, or 16 Free Spins are given when 3, 4, or 5 Scatters appear anywhere on the reels. Furthermore, when 3, 4, or 5 Scatters land while you are in the middle of a Free Spins round, you might win 3, 6, or 9 more spins.
Whereas the multiplier resets in the regular game between spins, it does not reset in the bonus round, so it can continue to accumulate in Free Spins.
Bonus Buy
Lastly, paying 100x the stake will ensure that players who are impatient to reach the bonus round receive 10 Free Spins.

RTP, Bet Sizes, and Volatility
NetEnt developed Cupcakes as a highly volatile slot that comes with an RTP of 96.05%, which is around the average of 96%.
On the other hand, the maximum win is quite low as it is only 2,762x the stake. To give this slot a shot, the players need to bet as low as $0.10 or as high as $200 per spin.
Verdict
Cupcakes is a relatively decent candy-themed slot. This is not the first candy-themed slot we’ve seen in an online casino, but we’ve also seen a lot better ones.
NetEnt should work on better graphics and definitely a higher maximum win. Overall, the slot is not bad at all, so you can give it a shot. We give this game 4 out of 5 stars.
