Ice Joker Review
Ice Joker seems like a fairy tale at first glance. A beautiful woman, a winter wonderland and an adventure of a lifetime. Can Play’n GO succeed in giving this online slot a good ending, or is it fated to be forgotten under the snow?
- Beautiful graphics and animations
- Medium variance that suits casuals and high rollers
- Special features are simple and fun
Watching joker-themed games transform over the years has been interesting. For the longest time, they were plain, three-reel experiences you played and forgot about.
In an effort to stand out, developers have given these games more personality and interesting bonuses. Ice Joker is the culmination of those things.
It challenges you with free spins, lucky wheels and sticky Wilds. If you can brave the cold, you could win 3000x your bet!
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
If the cool and snowy weather outside is not enough for you, the slot gives you even more!
Do not get us wrong. We love the view of tall mountains in the distance. We like what looks like a frozen lake, and the stars blinking in the sky.
We just prefer it on our screen, rather than braving the outside. There, we can admire this game and its wonderful animations from a warm and cozy space.
All the action takes place on a five-reel board. There are 20 pay-lines in total, which players cannot toggle at will.
In order to win, we need to find three or more matching symbols in adjacent positions. Winning combinations must start with the leftmost reel, and need to follow an active payline.
Meet all these conditions, and you get a win!
In-game features
In order to survive the blizzard, you need to use all the tools at your disposal. Unlike many other casino games, Ice Joker does not fall into the trap of having too many bonuses.
It offers a free spins round, and a lucky wheel. Even then, the lucky wheel is just a gateway to getting even more free spins. As such, we will tackle that bonus first, and then move on to free spins proper.
The wheel magically appears after finding three snowflake Scatters on reels one, three and five. This gives us a single spin of a colourful lucky wheel.
Each segment of the wheel has a number on it, ranging from two to seven. The number the wheel selects is important. It will grant that many Ice Jokers, which are collected and kept in the background.
If you get a spin without any Ice Jokers, one is taken from your collection. It is then added to the board. This continues until all collected Ice Jokers are spent.
Ice Joker Free Spins
Free spins themselves are extraordinarily simple. Only a special Wild can trigger the bonus. This Wild can only appear on reels two, three and four.
The special Wild locks in place, and then proceeds to expand on the reel it is occupying.
The Wild expands one position at a time. Each expansion is followed up by a frozen free spin, during which the Wild is held in place.
After it reaches its full size, the Wild shatters. It disappears from the reel, and one final free spin is played. If another Ice Joker Wild appears during the bonus, the process repeats itself.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this game is 96.23%. This is above average compared to most other games. Not by much, but more than enough to keep things interesting.
You can wager between $0.20 and $100 on each spin. This is a good betting range, which should suit both casual players and high rollers.
Ice Joker is not even all that taxing on your wallet. Its medium variance offers a much warmer treatment than what its icy exterior might suggest.
The top prize for this slot is 3000x your total stake. Far from the biggest jackpot out there! However, it suits the medium volatility quite nicely.
Verdict
If your primary measure of a slot’s quality is its jackpot size, you may give Ice Joker a skip.
Nobody will hold it against you for doing so. The game’s forgiving variance and above-average RTP aim for a wider audience.
The beautiful graphics Play’n GO put in the slot help attract even more attention. Do not let its seemingly frigid nature turn you away.
There is plenty to enjoy in Ice Joker – if you are willing to give it a chance. That’s why we give this slot 4 out of 5 stars.
