Jack Hammer 2 Review
Sequels are believed to always be worse than the original. Will this NetEnt slot prove this superstition right or will Jack Hammer 2 shine brighter than what came before?
- 99 paylines
- Awesome comic book art style
- Fun, low variance gameplay
After the success of the original Jack Hammer, we did not have to wait long for the sequel. Two years later, NetEnt brought back the grizzled detective in a new adventure.
This time, we are doing our best to stop a kidnapping. If we do our job right, Don Crabby will never get his claws in the pretty singer.
To make sure things are running smoothly, we are assisted by free spins, sticky wins and random Wilds.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
NetEnt designed both games to look similar to a comic book. They have done a great job, creating a timeless look.
Jack Hammer 2 is a few years old now, but it does not look bad in the slightest! It also has that attention to detail we are used to seeing from this developer.
For example, look at Don Crabby if both he and Pearl appear on the playing field at the same time.
His symbol will always be looking at the nearest Pearl icon. This is a small detail, but it is so cool!
This release is played on a five-reel, three-row board. There are 99 paylines, which cannot be turned on or off at all.
In order to win, we need three or more matching symbols next to one another.
Winning combinations must start with the leftmost reel and have to follow an active payline. Otherwise, they will not grant a cash prize.
In-game features
Sticky wins can be activated in several ways. First, just landing a regular win is enough to trigger the bonus. Another is to land three or more Scatters which activate free spins.
Players get a re-spin, which allows them to expand their current win. If one or more icons are added to the winning combination, another re-spin is granted.
This continues until no more new wins are awarded. At that point, all active wins are paid in a single joint payout.
Find five, six, seven or eight Scatters to win ten, thirteen, sixteen or twenty free spins, respectively. During free spins, all wins are doubled.
It is possible to win additional free spins. However, the free spins multiplier will not affect them. This makes them less valuable than your initial extra turns.
Random Wilds can also appear during free spins. These Wilds can substitute for any symbol except for regular Wilds and Scatters.

RTP, be sizes and volatility
The RTP for Jack Hammer 2 is 97.07%. This is a whole percentage point above the current slot average, which sits at 96%. It remains one of NetEnt’s highest RTP games to this day!
You can wager between $0.50 and $250 on each spin. The $0.50 minimum bet feels a bit steep.
However, we do get 99 paylines for it, so it feels like a fair asking price. Meanwhile, high rollers will no doubt be happy about the impressive maximum bet.
However, we doubt high rollers will be very interested in the low variance this release offers.
Despite the low volatility, the top prize is 1980x your total stake. This was a bigger jackpot than we expected, all things considered.
Verdict
Long have we waited for the sequel curse to be broken. Thankfully, NetEnt succeeded in doing just that!
They kept the same visual style that made the original such a success. At the same time, they added their own twist to things.
Cool graphics are just part of the equation, however. Low variance and fun special features make Jack Hammer 2 great if you want to jump in and have fun.
The slot gets 4 out of 5 stars, even after all these years. It will show you a great time, and you are missing out by not playing it.
