KISS Reels of Rock Review
Kiss was, and still is, one of the most popular rock bands in the world. They quickly made a name for themselves, famous for their face painting, costumes, and other wacky antics on stage.
Being such a cultural icon, it doesn’t come as a surprise they are making their appearance on the reels. Play ’n Go is the developer behind the new game titled Kiss Reels of Rick, one of the largest releases the renowned studio has ever produced. But can it live up to the expectation?
- High volatility with payouts going up to 50,000 times the bet
- 576 different ways to win
- Lock and Load, Drive Me Wild, and a Free Spins bonus are on the list of available features
Play’n GO opted to set the online slot in a stadium filled with hordes of fans, with speakers dominating the view. It’s a suitable location for a band that performed one of the loudest concerts in history.
Two randomly-triggered features and a bonus round are there to help players win, with the maximum prize worth a staggering 50,000 times the stake. It’s a generous amount, even for a highly volatile game such as this.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Visuals are solid, as expected from Play’n GO, though developers weren’t as inventive as in other rock-themed slots created by the game studio.
There are plenty of vibrant colours, while fans will enjoy listening to some of the band’s greatest hits while they spin the reels. Luckily, the release is not as loud as the concert held in Ottawa back in 2009.
The action takes place on a six-reel grid, which comes in an unusual 2-3-4-4-3-2 configuration. There are no paylines, with the setup providing 576 ways to win in the main game, with that number increasing to 4,096 during Free Spins.
Apart from low-value playing cards, the paytable includes the original band members, while the game’s Wild is the highest-paying icon, worth fifteen times your stake for six of a kind. They also substitute for all other regulars.
In-game features
The Lock and Load feature is randomly activated in the main game. Once it’s triggered, two reels will synchronize to show the identical icons on each of them. The reels that can “lock and load” are reels 1 and 6, 2 and 4, or 3 and 4.
Drive Me Wild is also a randomly-triggered feature, available only in the main game. It adds a 2x multiplier Wild anywhere on reels 2, 3, 4, or 5, only over low-paying symbols. Any other Wilds appearing during this feature will have the same multiplier value.
Kiss Reels of Rock Free Spins
Landing three or more Scatters starts the Free Spin selection. There are five available options, with each one offering a number of regular and encore spins:
- Johannesburg – twenty regular spins, one encore free spin.
- Sydney – sixteen regular spins, two encore spins.
- London – twelve regular free spins, three encore spins.
- Rio de Janeiro – eight regular spins, four encore spins.
- Tokyo – four regular free spins, five encore free spins.
The Lock and Load feature is available during Free Spins, although no Scatters will land until the last spin. If three Scatters appear on the final spin, players can claim the corresponding number of encore spins.
Encore spins are played on a six-by-four reel set, offering 4,096 ways to win. All Wilds come with a 2x multiplier, but no Scatters means encore spins can’t be retriggered.

Verdict
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fan of Kiss or not, you are sure to enjoy this thrilling Play’n GO release. The developer has done a great job reliving the band’s glory moments, treating its players to stunning visuals, a superb soundtrack, and, more importantly, a memorable playing experience.
They could have added a feature or two more, but that won’t bother you while you enjoy this rock-themed escapade. Add the maximum payout of 50,000 times you bet to that, and it’s easy to see why we rate it 5 out of 5 stars.
