Maui Mischief Review
It may not be a tropical holiday, but Old Skool Studios’ latest online slot offers the next best thing!
Maui Mischief seems like a lot of fun at first glance. Will it be able to live up to its high expectations?
- Win up to 3000x your stake with a medium-high variance
- Free spins with 3x multiplier
- Gorgeous background and symbol design
Few places can be described as heaven on earth, but Hawaii is definitely one of them. We are surprised more software providers have not used it as a setting up until now!
Old Skool Studios’ latest launch takes place on the second largest Hawaiian island. Undisturbed nature is all around us; so just lean back and enjoy the view.
Available special features include free spins and stacked Wilds.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
One of the best decisions the software provider has made when designing this game was to make the reels transparent.
It gives us an undisturbed view of the beautiful island. Lush forests are all around us. Mountains and coasts coexist just a few meters away from one another.
In the distance, we can see a few clouds hanging low. This is one of the best looking releases this developer has launched.
The playing field consists of five reels and three rows. There are 25 fixed paylines. That means we cannot toggle them on or off when we want to.
To win, you need three or more matching icons next to one another. Winning combinations must follow an active payline and needs to start with the leftmost reel to grant a prize.
In-game features
With every spin, there is a chance you will come across stacked Wilds. That means they will cover multiple positions on a single reel.
This increases your odds of forming a win, as Wilds can substitute for any symbol except for Scatters.
Another effect Maui Mischief’s Wilds have is their 2x multiplier. The multiplier is constantly active, and is applied to all wins the Wild is a part of.
This is not the only multiplier available in this slot. Land three or more Scatters to win the free spins round.
You will then be asked to pick one of the Scatters you used to trigger free spins with. This will reveal the number of extra turns you will get to play.
During free spins, all win values are tripled! It is possible to retrigger free spins. You can play a maximum of sixty extra turns in a single activation.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
Microgaming has a bad habit of making games with bad RTPs. However, this is not one of them! This title has an RTP of 96.47%, which is above average when compared to other slots.
You can bet between $0.25 and $75 on each spin. This is a good spread of bets, which should please most players. Some high rollers may wish for wagers even bigger than $75.
Given its medium-high volatility, we expected a good maximum win. We are happy to report this release has not disappointed!
The top prize you can win when playing Maui Mischief is 3000x your total stake.
Maui Mischief has been exclusively released early on Spin Casino and Jackpot City. The world wide online casino release is February 15th.
Verdict
You should not expect anything radically different from this slot. It looks amazing. You can tell the artists went all out in bringing the island to life!
The math model is also very rewarding, balancing risk and reward quite nicely. The one area we think this game could improve are its special features.
Stacked Wilds and free spins with multipliers are as standard as it gets.
We give this title 4 out of 5 stars. If this is the standard of future Microgaming releases, we cannot wait to see what comes next.
