Jumanji Review
The cursed board game is back, now in online slot form! NetEnt sets a challenge only the very best players will be able to complete.
The release is eager to show you all of the little tricks that hide on its 36 paylines. Will you live to tell the tale, or will Jumanji swallow you up?
- Board game grants free spins and mystery feature
- Four random bonuses can fire during normal gameplay
- Played on a 3-4-5-4-3 board
In recent years, slots have become increasingly feature heavy. Bonuses are becoming more complex as developers try to lure players to their casino games.
While complexity is not bad, there is such a thing as too many bonuses. Playing this release, we are beginning to see where we might draw that line.
After all, Jumanji offers four random base game bonuses, four free spins and a mystery feature.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We love the graphics in this slot. The background image is an excellent callback to the original movie.
It is also filled with little animations that mess with the reels like Wild Stampede and Monkey Mayhem.
We can also see the Jumanji board beneath the playing field in the background. We will have a chance to see it up close and personal during a few special features.
You play this release on a 3-4-5-4-3 reel with thirty-six fixed paylines. That means we cannot toggle individual paylines on or off.
Find three or more matching symbols next to one another to score a win. Winning combinations have to follow an active payline and start with the leftmost reel.
If these conditions are met, your prize will be granted.
In-game features
Sticky Vines can trigger if you have wins on at least two bet lines and no other bonus is active. Symbols that were part of the original win and all Wilds will be held in place.
Meanwhile, all other icon position will spin again. Sticky Vines continue until no new winning symbols are added to the combination.
Monsoon Wilds activate randomly and turn one or two reels Wild. The fifth reel cannot be chosen to become Wild if only one Wild reel is added.
Monkey Mayhem is also triggered randomly. After potential wins are awarded, symbols will be shuffled around to form a guaranteed win. This allows you to score two wins for the price of a single spin.
Last on the list of randomly activated bonuses is Wild Stampede. Rhinos will stampede across the screen, adding between four to nine Wilds.
Jumanji Free Spins
Find three or more Scatters to unlock the board bonus game. We get between six to eight dice rolls, depending on the number of Scatters.
Each dice roll can help you land in a different bonus. These include four free spins rounds, the mystery feature, extra rolls and cash prizes. Each free spins round can only be activated once per board game.
The four free spins bonuses borrow mechanism from randomly triggered special features mentioned earlier.
Vines free spins grant ten free spins and uses the Sticky Vines mechanic. Monsoon free spins applies the same rules as Monsoon Wilds, and adds seven free spins to the mix.
Monkey and Stampede free spins work the same way, and award six and five free spins respectively.
Score the mystery feature to unlock a carousel. It can grant free spins, cash prizes and two extra dice rolls. What bonus you unlock depends on what the carousel lands on.

The RTP for Jumanji is 96.33%. This is slightly above the current industry average, which sits at 96%.
You can bet between $0.10 and $200 on each spin. Players change their bet by adjusting their bet level and coin value.
If you are hunting for a big jackpot, this is not the right slot. The top prize it offers you is only 504x your total stake.
It fits the low variance offered by this game. We can see why NetEnt went down this path, even if we wish we could get a bigger win.

Verdict
The software provider clearly put plenty of effort into this release. The myriad of bonuses feels like the developers were carried away bringing Jumanji to life.
The low variance and small jackpot are also a reflection of this. If the variance was too high, players would never get to experience all the bonuses!
The myriad of special features and gorgeous visuals make this an excellent slot for casual audiences. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
