Mystic Bear XtraHold Review
Animal slots are on the rise across the industry, with providers trying to develop as many original games as possible. Swintt is a relatively new face in town that is becoming increasingly popular in the field.
The company hopes to come out on top in the future, but it has to continue creating quality slots to do that. Its newest addition to the portfolio is Mystic Bear XtraHold, an adventurous slot with a lot to offer.
Going along the frozen frontier searching for big wins is not a bad Saturday night activity, especially with such hefty wins. Grab them while you explore the evocative environment in this atmospheric slot.
- High volatility with a maximum win of 10,000x the bet
- Twenty-five paylines
- XtraHold, Free Spins, and Bonus Buy
The graphics are sharp and crisp, alongside fantastic production values and polished animations. Whatsmore, the entire presentation is top-notch, with a phenomenal soundtrack that enhances the atmosphere.
The audio-visual aspect is magnificent, but there is little originality in the slot appearance. There are only a few features, but they fit in well, producing fast-paced and straightforward gameplay.
In addition, this online slot is not the best of the bunch, but it delivers a thoroughly entertaining experience after all. It has an appealing maximum payout of 10,000x the stake, but grabbing it requires time, patience, and luck.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The graphics look impressive, albeit the background is pretty simple, a moonlit forest somewhere in the north. There are a lot of slots that use the wilderness as a backdrop, and this one does not differ from the rest too much.
However, everything looks great, with the provider making an effort to excel visually. As for the soundtrack, it is an expectedly boastful tune typical for frontier-located slots.
While most of the elements are familiar, unique perks are inserted for originality. Thrilling sequences and features, alongside a handsome maximum payout, make Mystic Bear a pleasant playing experience.
The action transpires on a standard 5×4 grid with twenty-five fixed paylines. Land three to five matching symbols on a single payline to grab a win. There are only eight icons in the paytable, four of them being royals (J-A), all paying 2x the bet for five.
Moreover, premium symbols include a Squirrel (worth 8x for a five-of-a-kind win), an Eagle (12x), a Wolf, and a Bear. The Wolf pays 16x the stake, while the Bear is the most lucrative, awarding 20x the bet for a combination of five.
Other icons include Paw Super Wilds, which replace regular symbols in winning combinations, and Orb Money symbols. There are no standard Scatters, but numerous winning opportunities are still present.
In-game features
The game contains only a few standard features, but they are interesting enough to keep the gameplay alive for more extended periods. They include the XtraHold feature, the Free Spins round, and the Bonus Buy option.
XtraHold
Trigger the XtraHold feature by landing six or more Orb Money symbols. If you have ever played any Hold&Win slot, you know the drill. You will get an opportunity to find more Orbs through three respins.
They are always sticky, and any new Orb icon will reset the respin tally to three. The feature ends once you run out of respins and collect all values or fill the whole grid with Orbs. You will receive the maximum payout of 10,000x the stake if that happens.
Free Spins
If you land three, four, or five Paw Super Wilds, you will receive five, eight, or ten free spins, respectively.
It is possible to retrigger the feature in the same fashion by landing three more icons during the round. However, the three middle reels spin together as a Mega Symbol throughout the Bonus round.
Bonus Buy
If players are impatient and do not want to wait, they can activate the features for a price. The Free Spins round costs 89x the stake, while the XtraHold feature is worth 100x your bet. The RTP is not affected.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
Mystic Bear XtraHold has an RTP of only 95%, which is below the industry standard. However, the hit frequency is high, at nearly 34.5%, meaning every third spin is a winning one despite the volatility. There are good chances for a lot of smaller wins.
Numerous betting options are available, starting from the lowest bet at $0.25, while the highest possible wager is $25.
While the low maximum bet might turn off some high rollers, we feel there are enough assets to lure them back. Still, it is true the game might be more suitable for casual players and penny-pinchers.
The volatility is high, meaning it brings payouts less frequently, but they are more substantial. There are exciting moments and sequences in the base game and the Bonus round, with a high hit frequency rate to boot.
The maximum payout of 10,000x the bet is challenging to land, but it is a respectable amount.

Verdict
Mystic Bear XtraHold is an excellent effort to make a decent nature slot by Swintt without huge ambitions. Everything that is supposed to be there is there, yet it is strangely unfulfilling, for everything is so familiar.
Some exciting features push the gameplay forward, but it can be tiresome after a while. The effort is appreciated, but ultimately, it is something we have seen many times before. Our rating is 3 out of 5 stars.
