Snakes and Ladders Megadice Review
An Indian game Moksha Patam was brought to Europe in the nineteenth century under the name Snakes and Ladders. It is a classic board game in which players roll their dice and move their pieces around a board, aiming to reach the last square.
There has already been a online slot or two based on this game in the industry. Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom have now joined forces to offer their version of the game.
Reach the Bonus round to grab lucrative wins and enjoy various other surprises. Embark on a wild adventure to explore thrilling features, enjoy classic vibes and land hefty wins.
- High volatility with a maximum win of 5,300x the stake
- Ten paylines
- Progressive feature and a Board Bonus
The graphics embody the retro 8-bit feel we all know and like, but there are minor visual clashes between the two providers. It is not unexpected when each sticks to their own style, but it does not favour the game.
Still, Snakes and Ladders Megadice is a good-looking casino game with a lot to offer and guarantees to deliver loads of fun. It has a few attractive features, a gloriously thrilling Bonus round and a couple of surprises along the way.
The high volatility promises exciting situations that ensure decent payouts. The maximum payout is 5,300x the stake, which is OK for a game without engines that bring massive amounts. Roll the dice and enjoy the ride.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Snakes and Ladders exploits the nostalgia factor well, giving the game a classic look everyone loves so much. The audio-visual presentation is good but not spectacular due to the mentioned clashes between the developers.
Still, this minor drawback does not take away from the game’s playability and fluidity. You can hear a plethora of sounds when you play, which is one reason that makes the game so enjoyable.
Despite all the minor errors, this game is positively disarming, and it will quickly win you over with its charm. A slot that resembles classic titles from past decades is always a great idea in our book.
The action in the base game occurs on a 5×3 game board with ten fixed paylines. The paytable consists of five low-pay and four regular premium symbols.
The 8-bit 10-A card ranks award you 5x-10x the bet for a five-of-a-kind hit, whereas a full line of premiums grants you 15x-50x. Ladders, Snakes, Bananas and Gorillas are among them, with dice as the Wild symbol.
Not only do they replace all the regular symbols in the winning combinations, but they also pay you 500x the stake for five. Furthermore, they can land on numbers one, two and three that signify a Multiplier value.
In-game features
A snake above the reels with eleven sections activates when you change bets. Landing Wilds fills the number of units you have got.
If you hit enough Wilds, you can trigger the Bonus game or win additional rolls if you get bigger numbers, overfilling the snake. If you happen to return to a previous stake, the game will save your progress.
Snakes and Ladders Megadice Free Spins
Virtually everything in this slot title revolves around the Bonus game, even though it is far from your standard Free Spins round. It is possible to activate in two ways, by landing three Bonus symbols or filling the snake as described.
You receive twelve dice rolls, plus extra re-triggers, seventeen at most if you have done the latter. Moreover, if you have landed three, four or five Bonus symbols, you will get twelve, fourteen or sixteen dice rolls.
The game of Snakes and Ladders occurs on a 12×12 board. A gorilla head represents you, starting from square one. Two dice roll, and the token moves the given number of squares. The squares can be blank or show one of six things that change the game.
Money Award grants you a random win of 4x-100x the bet, applying it to the total amount. A Multiplier applies its value to the winnings; a Ladder moves you to a higher square, while a Snake does the opposite.
A Banana adds random Awards and removes Banana symbols, while a Skyscraper appears anywhere on the board and moves you to a higher position if hit. The round ends when you use all the dice rolls or reach the final square.
If you come to the end of the board, you can re-trigger the game by not landing a double on an extra roll. The Rage Mode turns on if you win less than 20x the stake when the round ends.
The gorilla token goes to the end of the board, gathering all the prizes along the way, amounting to a hefty sum.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The default RTP value is 96.68%, slightly above the industry standard. The wins are decent, but nothing to lose your hair about. Everything changes during the Bonus round, which is the main ingredient of the game.
There are countless wagering options, ranging from $0.20 to $100. You can adjust the game parameters in the menu and set the values as you please according to your budget.
The slot has high volatility, but there is a balance between the win frequency and amount. The creators wanted to produce the game to attract fearless risk-takers and recreational players alike, and we think they have succeeded.
You will not lose too many nerves while playing, but it will still be an exciting experience due to its unusual concept.

Verdict
Even though Snakes and Ladders Megadice is pretty slow and the visuals are not the best, this is still a great slot/board game crossover. If you are into classics, love board games, and are a slot enthusiast, this title will be right up your alley.
It is nothing special but still provides immense entertainment, notwithstanding its minor drawbacks. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
