Tales of Asgard Freya’s Wedding Review
Nordic mythology is the source of some of the most exciting stories in the history of telling tales. Play ’n Go has drawn inspiration for its latest slot from the world of giants, providing an interpretation of a famous tale as the background.
The giant Thyrm stole the mighty Thor’s hammer and would return it only if he received Freya’s hand in marriage. When she refuses, Thor himself dresses up as Freya, infiltrates the wedding, steals the hammer back and kills Thyrm.
Though Nordic-themed online slots are nothing new, Play ’n Go has made a good choice and developed a modest but entertaining game.
- Medium volatility slot with a maximum win of 2,500x the stake
- Thirty paylines
- Wilds, Free Spins and other surprises
While it is not the most appealing Nordic slot in the industry, Freya’s Wedding sports crisp graphics and an epic soundtrack to match. Play ’n Go invests a lot of time in the entire audiovisual presentation, and it does not disappoint, as usual.
The casino game offers a few features and more straightforward gameplay than players usually get. However, simplicity is the game’s leading quality, keeping everything light and enormously entertaining.
An unusually fluffy title for the theme, the release provides laughs and some handsome payouts, too. If you are intelligent and lucky, you might win 2,500x of your initial bet. Put on your best suit and enjoy the wedding.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Nordic games are so common in the slot industry that they slowly become a cliche, but it is still a thrilling setting. Freya’s Wedding is not as pompous and boisterous as other games, but it offers a pleasant blueish wedding feast representation.
The icy background is as low-key as they come, as is the game itself, but it still provides an enjoyable experience. The soundtrack is appropriate for the theme, and it fits the visual elements like a glove.
As noted above, the gameplay is simple, but it provides a smooth ride that will keep you thoroughly entertained. Prepare for the feast and hefty wins that go with it.
The action takes place on a standard 5×4 game grid with thirty paylines. Land at least three matching symbols on neighboring reels from the left to score a win. Four runes, beer mugs, salmon fillets and pieces of meat make up low and mid-tier symbols.
They award 1-3.5x the bet for a five-of-a-kind win. Heimdall, Loki and Thrym are premium symbols, worth 5-10x the stake in the base game and 10-20x in the Free Spins round.
Freya is the Wild symbol that replaces all the regular icons but is also entwined with the features, and the Scatter symbols trigger the Bonus round.
In-game features
Wilds are the most prominent symbols in the game, appearing in various forms to provide hefty wins. Normal-sized symbols appear on all reels and bring 50x the stake for a five-of-a-kind win.
Moreover, each base game spin might trigger the Here Comes Freya feature, landing an expanded Wild icon with an x2 Multiplier. This double-value 1×4-sized Wild guarantees a win whenever it hits the reels, for it includes the entire row.
Tales of Asgard Freya’s Wedding Free Spins
The Scatter symbols appear on the odd-numbered reels to trigger the Free Spins round when you land three of them. Thor Wilds replace Freya Wilds in the Bonus round, with an expanding Thor icon starting the game on the last reel.
Each Free Spin moves Thor one reel to the left, enhancing its Multiplier each time. It can increase up to ten times, going from x1 to x10.
While the expanded symbol is visible on the grid, you can continue using Free Spins. You receive a respin after each spin when the expanded Thor does not appear.
If the symbol hits the reels on a respin, it carries over the Multiplier value, with the feature going on. The maximum number of Free Spins you can have is thirty.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The game comes with five default RTP values, the optimal being 96.40%, with other values being rather embarrassing.
They go from 94.40% and 91.40% to shamefully low 87.40% and 84.40%. All the values except the first one go well below the industry standard, a colossal player turn-off.
There are numerous winning chances, with the game providing a broad betting scope. The minimum bet amounts to $0.30, and the maximum wager you can place is $90.
It is an odd choice for bet values, but it still gives you multiple possibilities. You can set all the parameters in the game menu and enjoy the game.
Freya’s Wedding is a medium volatility slot, meaning it provides solid wins that occur with mild frequency. The slot’s volatility indicates it looks to attract high rollers and casual players alike, but we think it is worth the risk.
However, the moderate maximum win and the lack of countless chills and thrills might scare off the risk-takers.

Verdict
Tales of Asgard Freya’s Wedding is an unassuming and unambitious slot, but it does not mean it has no quality. We are used to flashier and more pompous games from Play ’n Go, yet, this one is simple and quietly charming.
Those who enjoy mythology, history and slot games, in general, will have a blast. Granted, it could have had a bit better payouts, but it manages to make up for it with other qualities. We rate it 4 out of 5 stars.
