RegionsAGA Call Attorney General Go against Illegal Gaming Operators
Published: April 25, 2025
The American Gaming Association (AGA) has called on the US Department of Justice to act against offshore operators, particularly Bovada, BetOnline, and MyBookie.
In his letter, Bill Miller, Chief Executive Officer at AGA, pointed out the threat unregulated operators pose to the entire legal gaming industry.
Miller called the DOJ to investigate the most prominent offshore operators who openly disobey federal and state regulations.
The AGA believes the Department of Justice needs to clarify that producers of skill-based machines need to adhere to Johnson Act and existing AML standards. All those who fail to comply fully must face legal consequences.
Here‘s what Miller had to say regarding this issue:
While the challenge of illegal gambling is not new, the brazen and coordinated manner in which it occurs — both online and in communities — has elevated this problem to a level that requires significant federal attention. We urge the Department to make it a priority to act…to protect American consumers, crackdown on illegal operators, and enforce federal regulations. Illegal operators have been put on notice: their days as a scourge on our nation are numbered. These bad actors prey on vulnerable customers, offer no consumer protections, do not ensure integrity or fair play, and generate no economic benefit for states or tribal nations.
