Cops N Robbers Megaways Review
Since the dawn of time, there have been thieves and those trying to stop them. As time passed and society formed into what we know today, that conflict took a familiar shape.
Cops N Robbers Megaways is a online slot inspired by the successful Greentube slot of the same name from 2013. Can Inspired Gaming live up to the original, or is this title doomed to be forgotten?
- Medium-high variance, 12,500x jackpot
- Nostalgic visuals reminiscent of the old Cops N Robbers
- Huge list of special features
With the night falling on the city, it is time to pick a side. The setting sun brings out robbers: people hellbent on making money through any means necessary.
On the other side are the cops. Honorable men and women who try to stop them from escaping with their stolen loot. This battle will take you through a variety of interesting bonuses you will have to play through to win big.
How big, you might ask? The maximum amount you can win is $250,000 on each spin, owing to the game’s medium-high variance.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
Anyone who played the 2013 Cops N Robbers will be immediately familiar with these visuals. If the developers’ goal was to evoke nostalgic feelings in players, they have done well.
The background image and symbol designs use simple, somewhat dated art styles prevalent among older releases.
You play Cops N Robbers Megaways on a six-reel board with the Megaways system enabled. That means the height of all reels can vary from two to seven icons on each spin.
The changing reel height also controls how many ways to win are available at any one time. The maximum number of ways to win is 117,649, which can only be achieved on a fully expanded board.
Wins are granted upon finding three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions start with the leftmost reel.
In-game features
Cascading reels are in effect for all base game spins. During free spins, all wins except for the walking Wild on the extra reel is part of the cascade.
Icons that are part of the winning combination disappear from the board. Existing symbols will fall down to replace them, while brand new icons will appear from the top. This allows players to win several times at the cost of a single spin.
Every non-feature spin has a chance of activating a reel modifier. There are two modifiers: blue and red. You can tell which one you received based on the police lamp’s flash.
A blue police light adds a random number of mystery symbols to the board. These icons can transform into any symbol. What icon they transform into is chosen randomly.
If the light flashes red, the Red Reels modifier activates. Each spin under Red Reels will increase the number of Megaways, until the maximum 117649 ways to win is reached.
A robber will also appear beneath the reels, and will move when the crossing light turns green. If the robber reaches the rightmost reel before Red Reels end, he will create extra bonus symbols.
Once added, they are guaranteed to trigger a special feature. Red reels end if you reach maximum Megaways, trigger a bonus or win 5x or more.
Cops N Robbers Megaways Free Spins
When you win free spins, you have the option of accepting a free spins gamble. Press Spin to accept the gamble, or Take to accept your current free spins.
To win the free spins gamble, the arrow needs to land in the green area. You can win a maximum of twenty-five free spins from the gamble wheel.
Three or more Scatters allows you to pick between two bonuses. The first one is free spins. Three Scatters grant eight free spins, and every additional Scatter adds two more free spins.
You can get a maximum of 78 free spins. Each winning cascade during free spins increases the multiplier by one.
A walking Wild is present on the reels during this bonus in the form of Bonzo the dog. He can substitute for all icons except the Scatter.
Your second option is the Chase bonus. Three Scatters give you three turns with a Cop snooze count. The count means the cop cannot move.
Additional Scatters add one to the snooze count. The robber and cop move across the board. Red dice control the robber, and blue dice control the cop.
Every square the robber lands on grants a cash prize. When you are inevitably caught by the cop, the one of three outcomes are possible.
- All wins are collected and the bonus ends
- The values on the board are increased and the special features continues
- An extra win is awarded and the bonus continues

Verdict
Graphics are the only aspect of this release we feel will be hit or miss. Inspired Gaming clearly wanted to pay homage to the original.
This is why they did not make any significant graphical changes and kept things as is.
While the visuals may look somewhat outdated, there is no denying Cops N Robbers Megaways surpasses the original.
It has more bonuses, more opportunities to win and a better top prize. We rate this slot 4 out of 5 stars.
