Ramses’ Revenge Review
It is a tale we have all heard before. A handsome explorer delves into ancient Egypt to plunder its riches and become famous across the world.
This time, the story may go a little differently. The mummy seeks to protect its wealth by any means necessary. Will you be able to dodge the mummies and win big?
- Distinct visual style
- High variance, 49,996x jackpot
- Sticky Wilds with increasing multipliers
Ancient Egypt is a theme that has been done many times before. That does not stop Relax Gaming from exploring it again in their online slot.
The visuals are great, but they are just part of what makes this game special. Players can also look forward to free spins with sticky Wilds and a mystery sandstorm bonus.
All of these goodies are locked behind a highly volatile release. However, if you are brave enough to take on Ramses’ Revenge, you could win a 49,996x jackpot.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We quite like the way the software providers approached the visuals for this slot. Both the background and symbol designs are portrayed from a top down perspective.
This new perspective makes the expected arrangement of ankhs, hieroglyphs and deities much more interesting to look at.
Where it shines brightest is with the explorer and mummy special icons. Of course, we may be biased because those symbols also have the best animations.
The game is played on a six-reel, four-row board with 4096 ways to win. Without set paylines, forming winning combinations is much easier.
You only need three or more matching icons next to one another, starting with the leftmost reel. Provided these three conditions are met, you will receive the associated cash prize.
In-game features
Every so often, players can activate the mystery sandstorm bonus randomly. One to four mystery symbols are added to the playing field per wave.
Once they land, they all reveal the same icon hidden beneath. Each mystery sandstorm activation grants between two to six waves.
Scatters cannot appear during this special feature, meaning free spins cannot overlap with the mystery sandstorm.
Ramses Revenge Free Spins
Two or more explorers symbols appearing anywhere on the playing field grants six free spins. The explorers fall through the reels, and are promptly eaten by the mummies.
Mummy Wilds will remain in the position where the explorers used to be. However, Wilds will change position if a new explorer lands.
Every additional explorer eaten by a mummy increases the mummy’s multiplier by one and adds an extra free spin.
If more explorers appear on the board than there are mummies, additional mummy Wilds are added to the board.
However, there can be a maximum of four Wilds present during free spins. Wilds will always move to the closest possible explorer.
Finally, if you do not want to activate free spins manually, players can buy them directly! Purchasing free spins costs 80x your total stake.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this release is 96.15%. The RTP does not change if you play Ramses Revenge normally or by buying free spins. In both cases, the RTP is above the current industry average of 96%.
You can bet between $0.10 and $20 on each spin. To change your bet, click or tap on the coins button. This will open a separate window with all available wagers listed. Choose the one you want, and then close the window.
The slot has a high variance that will leave you sorely tempted to buy free spins at times. However, if you can push through the difficult gameplay, you could earn yourself a fantastic prize.
The game offers a 49,996x jackpot! Very few titles can hope to match that kind of payout without resorting to progressive jackpots.

Verdict
Ancient Egypt is our guilty pleasure. No matter how many times it appears, it always manages to win us over.
However, Relax Gaming’s release does so with its unique perspective and interesting symbol designs. The visuals are fantastic, and the rewards are quite satisfying.
The special features are difficult to unlock, but that incredible top prize is well worth the effort.
As such, we rate Ramses Revenge 4 out of 5 stars. Victory against the mummies is possible, but only for the luckiest players.
