Alice Cooper Tome of Madness Review
The name Vincent Damon Furnier may not sound familiar to many, but his alias, Alice Cooper, is known all around the world.
The famous singer and songwriter is a household name in rock’n’roll with millions of records sold during his career and has even been inducted into the rock’n’roll Hall of Fame.
Now, the renowned musician has received a different honour and will be the star of the new online slot released by Play ’n Go.
- High variance with a 3,000x top prize
- The Cluster Pays system delivers wins
- Players can benefit from Reality Effect modifiers, stacked Wilds and Hat of Madness features
The atmosphere is dark and creepy, with the image of Alice Cooper standing next to the reels. There’s also a suitable soundtrack that compliments the online slot’s theme and further enhances the overall playing experience.
The atmosphere may appear hostile, but the game offers a wide variety of ways to claim prizes. Thanks to the Cluster Pays system, stacked Alice Cooper Wilds, Reality Effects modifiers, and Hat of Madness features, players can look forward to winning payouts of up to 3,000 times their bet.
This size of the maximum prize could have been bigger, especially as this slot comes with high volatility.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
We often see developers use rock ’n roll artists as their inspiration. These games use a similar theme, although developers made sure to add distinctive elements to this release.
Everything is well-designed, and even the image of Alice Cooper is also there to keep you company while the reels spin. You’ll particularly love the game’s soundtrack, as it will help set an immersive atmosphere that is sure to captivate every player.
The game is played on a five-by-five reel set and uses the Cluster Pays system to produce wins. Winning combinations, or clusters, as they’re called, are created whenever four or more symbols are connected either horizontally or vertically.
Clusters are removed from the grid using the cascade mechanic, with the symbols dropping into empty positions. This can help players form consecutive wins within a single spin.
In-game features
Players can get one of four randomly awarded Reality Effect modifiers on non-winning spins. Insane Asylum turns all high-paying symbols into a single top-paying icon.
The Dungeon will transform low-value icons into different premiums. Chamber of Horrors destroys symbols and adds Wilds to the empty positions.
Last but not least is Temptation Room, where players can benefit from an additional Wild and symbol transformation.
Special key symbols appear on the reels during the base game. Once they are collected, a Wild symbol will stay behind. Get three of these in one spin to benefit from the stacked Alice Cooper Mega Wild.
The Mega Wild will be added to the three middle reels, moving to the left or right between the cascades before completely disappearing from the grid.
Whenever a winning cluster is formed, symbols involved will charge the Hat of Madness. Once you gather enough symbols, you’ll trigger different Hat of Madness features:
- 10 symbols add up to two Wilds to the next cascade
- 25 symbols add between 3 and 6 Wild to the next cascade
- 50 symbols deliver 3 Reality Spins
- 75 symbols award 3 Reality Spins with a 2x multiplier.
- 85 symbols give 3 Reality Spins with a multiplier of 5x
Once you get to Reality Spins, the highest tier will be awarded. A selection menu will open at that point, with players choosing a Reality Effect modifier to use with Reality spins.
The chosen modifier will be played at the end of every Reality Spin. If the Alice Cooper Mega Wild appears on the grid during Reality Spins, between three and six extra Wild can also be added to the reels.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The slot’s default RTP is 96.20%, slightly above the current industry average.
When it comes to wagering options, players can place any bet ranging from $0.10 to $100 on every round.
The top prize is worth 3,000 times the bet, which is not that generous, bearing in mind the game’s high volatility.

Verdict
To sum it up, Play’n GO’s Alice Cooper and the Tome of Madness offers a wide variety of potentially very lucrative features.
However, such a famous name could have been more generous with the maximum prize. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a fan of rock ’n roll, this release can keep you entertained for hours. We rate it 3 out of 5 stars.
