Book of Inti Review
When we think of pyramids, our first association is ancient Egypt. However, they were not the only civilisation to make pyramids. The ancient Inca also had their own version of pyramids.
This connection served as inspiration for Book of Inti, which centers around the Incan sun god. Golden Rock Studios and Microgaming take on the difficult task of making a ‘Book of’ game stand out. Will they succeed in their efforts?
- High volatility with a 5500x jackpot
- Free spins with removable symbols and expanding icons
- Simple, clean graphics
Before the Spanish colonisation of Latin America, numerous kingdoms and empires ruled the region. Among the most successful were the Inca, whose empire still captivates imagination to this day.
Those who dare delve into the mysteries of the now-defunct empire stand to gain a 5500x reward! The only way to achieve such a feat is through special features.
Available bonuses include free spins with special expanding symbols and removable icons.
Theme, Graphics and Sounds
The choice of theme is good. Golden Rock Studios opting to make a casino game based on the Inca helps set Book of Inti apart.
The graphics are good, but we have seen better visuals. The background image depicts a large Incan city with a massive river running through the city centre.
The background looks all right but feels a bit cartoony. However, we could look past that if the slot offered more animations.
You play this game on a five-reel, three-row board with ten paylines. The number of paylines is fixed, meaning we cannot toggle individual paylines on or off.
Wins are awarded by landing three or more identical symbols next to one another. Winning combinations must start with the leftmost reel and have to follow an active payline.
If all of these conditions are met, players will receive the appropriate cash prize.
In-game features
Other than the wild-scatter and the free spins round, there are no real bonus features.
Book of Inti Free Spins
Three or more Wild-Scatter icons activate the free spins round. Players get eight free spins to start with and a chance to win more.
When the bonus activates, we are taken to a separate screen to spin the Book of Inti Wheel. The wheel has an outer, middle, and inner wheel.
The outer wheel determines the special expanding symbol. The middle reel awards more free spins. Finally, the inner wheel removes one icon from the reels for the duration of the bonus.
If the wheel lands on a golden segment, the round proceeds to the next wheel. Each new wheel allows you to improve your free spins round.
Additionally, you can spin the wheel again if you retrigger the special feature. This is done by collecting three or more Wild-Scatters again.
A chosen special expanding symbol does not change between bonus wheels. However, an additional icon or symbols may be chosen.
When the expanding icon lands, it will expand to cover the entire reel it is on. The symbol will only expand if that will lead to a winning combination occurring or improving.
Special expanding icons also do not need to be in adjacent positions to form a win.

RTP, bet sizes and volatility
The RTP for this slot is 96.06%. This is better than the current industry average of 96%, but only slightly.
You can bet between $0.10 and $40 on each spin.
Winning big is more than possible in this release. Book of Inti gives players an opportunity to score up to 5,500x your total stake.
However, keep in mind this is a highly volatile game. While winning quickly is possible, it would require incredible luck.

Verdict
We found this slot to be a passable ‘Book of’ title. The only thing that stands out here is the wheel, which can create some interesting combinations.
Temporarily removing symbols increases your odds of winning in the same way that having multiple special expanding icons does.
The visuals could use some work, but they are good enough for a few hours of fun. We rate the release 4 out of 5 stars.
It has the potential to win big and can be quite fun when the stars align.
